I stayed at the Crowne Plaza San Francisco Airport for 1 night in February 2026.
Overall, I would characterize my stay as a good (above-average) 3 stars, though the experience didn't meet my expectations of a Crowne Plaza. It was better than a 1 star (terrible) or 2 star (average) stay but definitely was not at the level of a 4 star (excellent) or 5 star (amazing) experience. The stay felt more like what you would expect from a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express (minus the free breakfast) than what one normally expects from the Crowne Plaza brand. At least the pricing is in line with a 3 star Holiday Inn and not that of a typically luxurious Crowne Plaza.
On all three metrics (rooms, service, location) things were generally good but always with an asterisked exception.
The room looked nice at first glance but if you look closer there are definite signs of wear (included photo of the worn bolt to the door). The interior is past its prime and is in need of refurnishing. The night time and daytime views from the room were average showing a parking lot and some buildings, though at least you have a relatively unobstructed view of the horizon at sunrise/sunset.
Service was mixed. The Crowne Plaza has a free shuttle service but has limited hours. Whereas nearby hotels have shuttles that are available 24/7, the Crowne Plaza's only operates until around midnight. Unfortunately, I arrived past midnight and had to take a taxi. In the morning, there is a free shuttle to the airport but you have to sign up in advance. In addition, the Crowne Plaza is the first stop among the hotels so you have to leave earlier. When trying to travel to the Crowne Plaza, I tried calling the hotel and spent 10 minutes on hold before giving up. When I did arrive, the single front desk employee had his hands full with guests (and I could hear the phone ringing in the background). However, the front desk employee was friendly and helpful, going out of the way to assist in several things that he didn't have to do, and that's the main reason I'm giving service 3 stars instead of just 2.
In theory, the location is conveniently located near the airport. However, when traveling to the hotel, there was an accident on Airport Blvd right off of the 101 exit. The police had blocked off the path and my taxi driver wasn't able to turn into the hotel. That is why I was trying to call the hotel (and spent 10 minutes on hold). My taxi driver ended up needing to continue traveling east on 101, make a U-turn, enter Airport Blvd on the eastern end, and traverse the entirety of Airport Blvd until reaching the Crowne Plaza. And as mentioned earlier, in the morning, the Crowne Plaza shuttle stop is the first so you have to wait through several stops before getting to the airport. My actual experience was closer to 2 stars for location but I recognize it was atypical due to the traffic accident, hence why I think a 3 star rating is a more realistic and accurate assessment.
As for hotel facilities, the Crowne Plaza has a reasonably equipped gym, a basic but worn pool and hot tub, and a small business center (pictures included of all these). There is also an on-site restaurant which I took a few pictures of, but which was closed because it was after-hours when I arrived. There is also a random piano hidden away near the vending machine which can technically be played but the positioning of the piano seemed haphazard.
So while there are many ways my hotel stay and experience could have been better, there are also plenty of ways it could have been far worse. In the future, I would probably try a different hotel, but it was a reasonable stay at a reasonable price. Just don't have the wrong assumptions because it has "Crowne Plaza" in the name!

We chose this hotel for a one-night stay before an early flight out of SFO, prioritizing the convenience of the onsite restaurant and shuttle service. Unfortunately, the experience was subpar from start to finish. As an IHG Platinum Elite member, I expected a more professional check-in process, but the service was neither friendly nor helpful.
The property itself feels neglected and lacks basic maintenance. While the room wasn't filthy, it certainly didn’t feel clean, and the overall state of the hotel is far from luxurious. The onsite dining experience was frustrating; despite being nearly empty, service at the bar was incredibly slow. Furthermore, the dining area was uncomfortably cold, relying on a single space heater that did little to improve the environment. Conversely, the business center was stifling—it must have been over 100 degrees, making the simple task of printing our boarding passes an incredibly frustrating experience.
Finally, the airport shuttle situation was poorly managed. We were fortunate to be the first stop, but the shuttle filled up immediately, leaving guests at an adjacent hotel stranded. Given the lack of maintenance and poor service, I cannot recommend this property.

I recently stayed at Crowne Plaza, and unfortunately my experience was far from comfortable. After checking in, we dropped off our things and headed out to Topgolf, which is conveniently close by. The location and safe parking are honestly the best parts of this hotel.
By the time we returned, I was exhausted from a long day and ready to get some rest—but that’s where everything went downhill. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and unbelievably hard, making it impossible to relax. I found myself tossing and turning constantly.
On top of that, the air conditioner was incredibly loud and disruptive, and despite running it nonstop, the room never cooled down. It stayed hot and stuffy the entire time, which made sleeping even more difficult.
I became so uncomfortable that I ended up checking out the same night. At 4 a.m., I had to go out of my way to find another hotel just to get some rest. Overall, while the location is nice and the parking feels secure, the room conditions were nowhere near worth the stay. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.
Unfortunately, I had a bad experience. I checked in and went to the room. The air conditioning was not working and the air conditioner water had leaked. I went back to the lobby and changed rooms. This time, the air conditioner in the room was making excessive noise. It was loud enough to wake me up at night. I had asked them to clean the room on the second day but they didn't do it. The hotel is really old now. The location is very good but hotel is very old.
I had read some really bad reviews. So I was happily surprised at the quality of this place. Check-in was professional. A couple of Caesar salads to go from the restaurant were perfect and only $11 each. The room was clean, comfortable, bed was great. I was concerned when I walked through the hall to the room because the room with a shared wall to our room had noisy guests. But the soundproofing was fantastic. I couldn’t hear a thing. This place is nothing like the Hyatt Regency, but it’s a great value.
Incidentally, I found free parking just past the Hyatt on the left in one of the side streets. Safe. Lots of fancy cars parked overnight.
