The service in this hotel is above average for any hotel I have ever stayed in!

We reserved a suite 3 months ago. Checked in at noon online. Arrived at 6. The front desk woman said they gave away our room to someone with the same last name “likely because they were staying longer”. She said she would get us two rooms and charged my card. Then we waited 45 minutes with her and the other front desk woman whispering and not telling us what was going on. I then asked again and she said they don’t have two rooms. I asked for a manager. Took 20 minutes for him to come out. He said they would clean a room-15 more minutes and call me. Never called. I came back after 20 and they said they couldn’t figure out my out of state phone number. I asked for a discount as by now we had lost our dinner reservation. He only gave a 20% discount. Room was barely clean. No blankets I had to call and get blankets and pillows. Floor had applied chocolate (hopefully) on it. Fridge was gross. Windows had handprints from kids all over. Hair in the shower. Dennis the manager would not discount it anymore. Also horrible Location with trash all over their parking lot. Air conditioner smelled like wet dog. I expect this for a $200 and under hotel but not a site at $350 a night. I recommend going next door to the Marriott or Hilton if you have to stay in Vernon.

Booked three nights after being put on a wildfire evac. Shut ourselves in for three days trying to do our work and nervously watch the fires get closer to our house. Did not have the room made up and left it impeccable. Three days later there is a mysterious $70 charge to our credit card. We called them and they said it was from ‘mirror damage’. No more information, no evidence to show this alleged damage and no access to a manager to talk this through. Requested call back not made. We did not make any damage and don’t even know what mirror they could be talking about- there was a massive mirror in the bathroom over the sink, but we have not had ‘the damage’ explained, nor can we see how it could be possibly made. We did not leave a tip, so wonder if this is a shakedown? It certainly seems like a scam, whether perpetrated by housekeeping or front of house. We certainly will not let this shabby and falsified accusation stand. Most of all, at a time when we are in an evac - a prolonged moment of tremendous stress - we need a problem with a local hotel like a hole in the head. This is how best western of Vernon treats its customers during a wildfire emergency: SHAME ON ALL THE DISHONEST STAFF WHO WORK THERE! SHAME ON YOU BEST WESTERN: NO-ONE WE KNOW WILL EVER STAY WITH YOU IN ANY LOCATION AGAIN!!!

The stay was OK, the room was comfy (we had the one bed apartment), the amenities were fine although if you’re planning on cooking don’t have high expectations for pots etc. I think the reception staff could be a lot friendlier and faster (I’d settle for a smile) but I was planning on leaving a good review with at least 4 stars. Unfortunately, I had a nasty surprise on my bank statement today, when I found out that I was charged additional $70 for a damage to the room with no proof provided several days after I checked out. They emailed me my invoice for the room, a day after the check out and no mention of any additional charges. No call either. When I called the hotel I was told that the housekeeping staff reported a damage to a mirror, which left me speechless. What mirror? Where? We didn’t break anything! No info was provided. Just a charge on my statement. This is how you treat guests, who were also evacuees from recent wildfires. On top of stressing out whether we still have an home to go back to I had to call my credit card company to file a dispute. Shameful practices at this location. A hot tip for future guests, take pictures of the room before you check out!

We've stayed at this Best Western Premier for two years running, and this year the service was noticeably worse than last year. We requested our room be cleaned, which usually includes fresh towels, but housekeeping just took our dirty towels and didn't leave new ones. When we went to ask the housekeeping staff member for towels, she was on her phone (looked personal, not work related) and initially refused, saying they were too busy. It wasn't until we explained we'd just come back from the lake and needed to shower that she asked when we needed them by, and said she'd "come by eventually." My mom ended up waiting 30 minutes for towels because they were "so busy." I've never stayed anywhere that couldn't keep towel service up with room cleaning. On top of that, the bed wasn't made properly and it looked half done. We don't expect five-star treatment, but we did expect better than this from a Best Western Premier, especially after our stay last year. Hoping this was a one-off and not a sign of a service decline. It was an unfortunate experience.
