We went with our 4 kids ages 7-12 for 4 nights. Service: This was lacking. Both our room keys failed on day 2…with 2 sleeping kids inside. The hostess said that maintenance was no longer there and later slew learned she could not get ahold of them. No ladder, no offer to call her manager or someone else. My husband was going to climb the balcony to get in when I insisted she call her manager or another maintenance person. The manual room key could not be found. We were able to get into our rooms an hour later. The lock was still broken. They would fix it in the morning (but if we left our rooms, we’d be locked out.) Often if something like this happened, it’s pretty normal to offer a free meal or a discount but no such thing was offered. The hostess mentioned that the batteries had been going on the locks. Why had not all of the batteries been changed once this pattern had begun? The next day our battery was replaced but our key cards didn’t work. The daytime maintenance person was quick and helpful and polite. Throughout our stay, each time I went to ask a question, etc. I felt like I was either an inconvenience, met with a scowl or like it was a question that had never been asked before. There are bbqs that you can use which is quite lovely! I went to the reception and asked about it and was given the bbq tools and a propane tank and then the receptionist walked away…no “Is there anything more you need?” “Would you like some help carrying the (full) tank?” or even “our bbqs are located 5 minutes down that way.” The host staff seemed to have the knowledge and professionalism as a young teen. They were often polite but I’m not sure if they were trained well. Kid Friendly: Not really. We went to the restaurant and most of the menu items were spicy (we had 8 people and half were spicy…2 dishes were too hot to finish and our server had not shared this). There’s no printed kids menu (our server shared 5 options orally which was difficult for our kids to choose from). A kids menu or colouring sheets would have been nice. There is a playground similar to a backyard wooden playhouse which is nice. There’s not much else in the area except for one in Tofino. Every place requires paid parking in Tofino so it’s not worth slipping out there just for the playground. There’s not much else for kids to do. Most surf lessons (offered separately) require participants to be 12+ years old. (Surf Sister allows for younger!) The average July temperature is about 15 degrees Celsius and the water is about 10 degrees. Don’t plan for a beach holiday and expect warm beach temps. It’s about 5-10 degrees warmer 20 minutes inland. Rooms: Beautiful, all are ocean front I believe, fairly standard for Best Western. Mattresses are soft and comfy. For a sofa, kitchen and king bed, it was quite tight…a table with 2 chairs (for 6 people), no room options for more than 4 people so I was grateful my in-laws were fine to let 2 of my kids bunk with them. Kitchenette had 2 burners, mini fridge, sink, microwave, utensils and pots and 3 sets of dishes. A bowl would have been nice. Our beds seemed haphazardly made…the bottom sheet was loose and we had to redo it…very minor but not a great first impression…I’ve never had that at any hotel before.. Most Best Westerns have an area to sit and play a card game etc. but because this location’s breakfast area doubles as a restaurant, there is no space to sit on a cold or rainy day (these happen frequently by the coast). The location is perfect! Beautifully kept grounds, rooms are right off the ocean with a view and Tofino and its attractions are 5 minutes away.

The location, views, and beach access are absolutely phenomenal. Unfortunately, that's about where the positives ended. We paid nearly $700 per night, and the experience wasn't even close to matching that price. Personally, I would value this property at around $250 per night based on the accommodations and service. The rooms feel dated and in need of renovation, especially the bathroom, which wasn't as clean as it should have been. The walls were paper-thin, and we could hear nearly every conversation from neighboring rooms, making it difficult to sleep at night. The complimentary breakfast was disappointing. The eggs tasted like powdered eggs, and the plastic utensils felt more like something you'd get at a fast-food restaurant than at a resort charging premium rates. I also accidentally left a shirt hanging in the closet. I called the hotel within hours of checking out, but somehow it had already disappeared and was never recovered. To make matters worse, the jacuzzi wasn't even usable during our stay—an amenity you'd reasonably expect to be operational at this price point. At nearly $700 a night, the value simply isn't there. You're paying almost entirely for the spectacular location and ocean views. Everything else felt closer to a roadside motel than the luxury resort experience the price suggests.

Had dinner at Browns Social House. The scenery out back is an awe of beauty. Fire pits and chaos to sit around a fire while gazing at the amazing view of the ocean. Candy beaches with big waves. The sunsets are bucketlist quality. Food was amazing also.

First time visiting tofino and we are staying at Tin Wis for 2 days. This is the most beautiful hotel i have ever stayed in with an amazing view of the ocean. Everything is so beautiful here and the fact that everything is so accessible including brown social within the property makes such huge difference especially when you are travelling with a kid. Beds are comfy, hotel lobby is welcoming. When we checked in, we found microwave in the room was dirty, next morning we called for cleaning and it was actioned right away. The staff is really polite and helpful and offer free toiletries if you forget anything. Overall i am loving my stay. Loved my morning walks by the beach, we will be back soon.
