  The room smelled like it was smoked in for a long time, that stale old smoky smell. There was also a large brown stain on the floor upon entry. I left my sandals on the entire time because of it. For a quick stay off the highway, it was sufficient, the bed was comfy atleast, and the shower seemed clean. The gentleman checking us in on the night of June 22 was very welcoming.

  Very clean room, very quiet. The front desk was really helpful when checking in. Checking out at 12pm is very much appreciated as we don’t have to rush in the morning and have better vacation experience. However, a staff swiped in our room around 11:10am without knocking. I hope there would be a protocol about knocking first. I felt a little bit rushed for checkout from subsequent interaction.

  The great part about the hotel is they have free breakfast and a pool and the room were very clean it was good

  Absolutely horrible service from sugar he turned us away after a miscommunication from him and his dispatcher whom reserved the room for my wife and I, just snarky and rude and wouldnt help us even went through the process of calling me useless and using profanity over the phone

  Update The front desk arranged for the machinery to be ‘silenced’ over the early hours and the manager made a change of room away from the lift for our second night. Have updated the star rating. On a more general note I am surprised todays hotel designers haven’t solved the problem of placing guest rooms next to lift shafts and compressors running ice machines. Original post On our vacation we stayed in three very similar hotels operated as Holiday Inn Express. This one in Kamloops BC was by far the most expensive for essentially the same type of room and service. We were late booking this hotel and with very few rooms available we were given a room on floor 4 adjacent to the lift shaft. Rooms near to lift shafts and are invariably problematic because of continuous mechanical noise. The hotel management politely request that guests observe their quiet hours between 2100 in the evening and 0700 in the morning but are unable to observe the same rule for the workings of the hotel itself. Room change and room charge reduction requested. Will post outcome later.
