My recent stay at this Home2 Suites was, unfortunately, one of the most frustrating Hilton experiences I’ve had in years. Although the check-in email proudly advertises contactless arrival, the front desk seems determined to do the exact opposite. They insist on seeing physical ID and—more bafflingly—the exact credit card used at the time of booking. If you don’t have that card on hand, they insist on redoing the entire reservation. When questioned, the staff repeatedly claimed that this has been “the procedure for years,” which only highlights how far behind the times this property has fallen.
It’s disappointing to see a Hilton brand hotel so out of step with the modern standards its competitors—and even other Hilton locations—have embraced.
The property itself is a mixed bag. The location is convenient and the room was generally clean, but the bathroom has a sliding door that doesn’t lock, which is inconvenient and feels poorly thought out. The pull-out sofa bed had dark black stains that were frankly unappealing and unacceptable for a hotel at this price point.
Adding to the frustration, the side entrances don’t reliably open with either a physical or digital key. In the chilly fall weather, it’s unpleasant to discover that these doors work only when they feel like it, forcing guests to walk all the way around to the main entrance.
As for room categories, the so-called “upgrade” for paying more is simply a bathtub instead of a walk-in shower. Otherwise, the two-queen rooms are identical—a detail that should be communicated upfront.
Overall, this property feels like a sad exception within the Hilton family—unmodernized, inconvenient, and needlessly rigid. If you arrive here after a long road trip expecting the smooth, quick check-in you’re accustomed to at other Hilton hotels, prepare to spend 30 minutes at the front desk answering repeated requests for your ID for reasons that remain unclear.
A hotel should make travel easier, not harder. Unfortunately, this Home2 Suites has chosen the opposite approach.

This is now my favorite hotel in Bakersfield. The restaurant within walking distance Fugaties and the Sushi place. The rooms are quite, the breakfast is fresh and and the staff is warm and inviting. Overall, a great place for a stop or business meeting. Or maybe a great place to stay when the Hard Rock casino opens.

This is a great hotel with many amenities but my next door neighbor cooked a full dinner at 10:30 pm reminded me of the downside of long term stay hotels
