We recently stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, and the best way I can describe it is this: a true well-oiled machine where every detail feels intentional.
We were here for my husband’s company event, and I had the pleasure of being his guest and what a gift that turned out to be. Every single person I encountered was genuinely kind, helpful, and seemed happy to be there. You can feel that they truly care about the guest experience, and it shows in everything they do.
I treated myself to an 80-minute hot stone aromatherapy massage at the spa, and it was absolutely lovely. The space was peaceful, the staff were warm and attentive, and I enjoyed time in the steam room beforehand and tea in the relaxation room afterward. It felt like a full reset.
But the true standout of our stay was Maury at the concierge desk.
I’ll be honest I didn’t plan well. I didn’t realize how important it was to secure park tickets in advance, especially with the Food & Wine Festival happening. I was genuinely stressed thinking I might miss out on something I had been looking forward to for years. Maury stepped in with such calm, kindness, and efficiency. Not only did he help me secure a park hopper ticket so I could experience both parks, but he made the entire process feel easy and taken care of.
When he first got my ticket for me, he even gave me a button to wear in the park and a paper ticket to keep as a souvenir such a thoughtful touch that made the experience feel extra special from the start.
Later, when I had to leave my selfie stick behind (lesson learned!), he graciously held onto it for me. When I returned, he went above and beyond again this time surprising me with a signed Ariel autograph card and a sweet candy set. It was completely unexpected and genuinely made my day.
What stood out most is that even as an adult visiting without kids, Maury made me feel like the magic was just as much for me. He reminded me to enjoy, to have fun, and to reconnect with that sense of wonder.
That kind of experience stays with you.
Because of him and the overall care and excellence of this hotel I will absolutely be back. This trip reminded me why so many adults return to Disney again and again… and now I get it.

Hotel in general is gorgeous. Beautifully decorated, smells good, everyone is super friendly. The distance from the parks is the biggest bonus, you don't have to walk far to get there at all. Only thing is the rooms do not really dampen the noise from other rooms or the hallways. If you're expecting it to be 100% quiet, it won't. Otherwise, it was a really great experience to stay at this hotel. Stayed in a room with a pull-out couch and it folded down to a twin size bed which was nice for the kids to sleep on.
You pay for the location, service, and amenities, but the rooms themselves honestly were nothing to write home about and our courtyard view was just meh. The rooms were nice, but I expected them to be exceptional, but they weren’t too far off from your typical 3 star hotel. Also not a big deal but the shower drain was kind of clogged from the get go but with Disney to explore, we just dealt with it.
The service was great, though, with everyone being very patient and kind. And of course, the location is amazing, having a private entrance to California Adventure. The lobby is also breathtaking. We used to pool too which was really great with several large heated pools (including one with a slide) and hot tubs available. We didn’t use the gym but we checked it out and it was spotless and modern, plus they had some complimentary water bottles in there which were a nice touch.
I have no regrets, but not sure if it’s worth it value wise unless you really want to splurge or really value the location.

Booked the 3 bedroom suite. Party of 5. Overlooking DT disney, CA adventure.
Pros, convenient location, food was fine, staff was friendly. Storyland restaurant was fun.
Cons, two nights in a row middle of the night no running water in room. One morning no hot water in any of the showers. Slow drip leaks in every shower.
Room service did not provide water in Pitcher or bottle, even when asked. Actually indicated we'd be charged for bottled water.
Attention to detail was not quite there. Example, we had 5 people in the room. Ordered room service coffee, they brought two cups.
Middle of night construction on DT disney noise from 11pm- 4AM. Sound proofing on room is poor.
Management was understanding, removed a 1 night charge from our bill.
Overall, it's fine, but for the price they're charging it's 5 star prices for a 3 star room and service.
I thought a lot about posting our terrible experience at the Grand. It has continued to both me so I felt it necessary to post our experience. We have magic keys so we go often to Disneyland, for my son's birthday we thought it would be a great day to go to the park and enjoy the magic of the hotel but sadly there was nothing magical or happy about our stay. We imagined a day by the pool having food and drinks but we were continually ignored at the pool, we we're unable to order any food and only got one drink. Everyone around us had food and when we tried to ask the server for service he said he was the only one and continued to walk. I went to the bar and asked if someone could take our order. My husband sat by the pool with my boys and still nobody came. Finally after what felt like forever someone came and he said we didn't have much time for food he brought us one drink and never came back. Not too be dramatic but my son's birthday was ruined for me, we looked forward to being pool side and enjoying the day but that didn't happen. We went back to the room got dressed and tried to make the best of the day at the park but the entire time I thought about it. My husband is a very easy going person when we were waking back to the room i could see the face of disappointment on him so I went to speak to someone at the front desk. My husband took the boys up to the room while I spoke to the staff. The staff member was very nice and apologetic for our experiences he offered treats to our room but by the time I got up to the room my boys were asleep. I will never stay at the Grand again we paid a lot of money for our stay and it was not a nice experience.
