THE WORSE HOTEL IVE EVER STAYED IN.
- Horrible check in experience. I waited till 3pm for the room. Upon arrival hair in bathtub and all over floor. The second time checking into this hotel with the exact same hair problem.
- Housekeeper arrived very rude, demanding me to show her the hair. It was everywhere.
- After cleaning the bathroom floor she used the same cloth to wipe down patio glass door and handle which was also FILTHY, now contaminating the door handle with bathroom floor fluids and other contaminates.
- She then sprayed Aerosol spray so strong it damaged my lungs and I could not work in my room. She sprayed at 345pm and at 8pm, it was still unbearable.
- 4pm NO housekeeping or Manager on site, front desk not taking calls, hung up on me. "Sorry I cannot help you hotel is full and there is no manager here."at 4PM when your hotel is full of guests?
- 0530am woke up choking on the smell of bacon. Im on the 8th floor. Kitchen is next to the only elevator. Zero ventilation.
- No help at front desk. Entire hotel smells like bacon. 0530.
- Expedia called, waiting to hear back from front desk on cancelling my reservation. This is not a hotel for working class. Its for people who care nothing about cleanliness or customer service. There is no service at this hotel. Poorly trained staff. Horrible bacon, can bean, processed hashbrown breakfast. There is one elevator for all guests and staff (67 rooms + staff and housekeepers). I believe that this is a cash cow for some foreigner who is not on site to see what the hell is going on. Zero Management available from 4pm to 0930 am ++ or SERVICE.
* update MGR now threatening to have me removed for harrassing staff. Zero cancellation offered for remaining night.
Be prepared:
Poorly trained staff
No deep cleaning or sanitization
Rooms filled with deep fry smell and bacon from 0530 to 0930.
One elevator for all rooms and housekeeping staff.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL OR STAY ANYWHERE NEAR ELEVATOR. THERE IS NO VENTILATION. MANAGER HAS NO EXPERIENCE OR PROFESSIONAL TRAINING. Much better service at any other hotel ALT Hotel University/ East End or Sandman Signature. Zero amenities here and zero customer service.
Update:
Second day experience: I cleaned the bathtub myself the first day, it was now hair free. I went out for two hours maid did a cleaning and the bathroom and bathtub is full of black hair again. Just as I witnessed with my own eyes, the housekeepers use one rag for floor, toilet, windows, bathtub, no sanitization and no proper cleaning in rooms. By far this is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in.

Extremely disappointing experience
We booked a room at the Holiday Inn and specifically told them when making the reservation that we had a dog with us. We were told we were booked and arrived expecting to check in without any issues.
Instead, when we arrived, we were denied our stay and told that the hotel does not accept dogs. This was extremely frustrating, especially after we had clearly disclosed that we had a dog when making the reservation.
If the hotel has a no-pet policy, that’s fine—but they should have told us when we booked, not wait until we arrived with our belongings and dog. This left us scrambling to find somewhere else to stay and completely ruined our plans.
Very poor communication and customer service. I would not recommend booking here if you’re traveling with a pet.

My daughter brought me to Calgary for my very first vacation.
Upon arrival the man who checked us in was absolutely lovely.
We were extremely impressed with our room. Our room was on the 8th floor. Upon entering the room we were pleasantly surprised at the size.
Lots of room to move around and not be bumping into each other.
We were also shocked at the balcony attached that we were unaware that we were getting.
The room was extremely clean and we never heard a peep from anyone around us.
Anytime we needed anything the hotel personnel were ready to help.
The complimentary breakfast was FANTASTIC. Lots to choose from and always full.
Thank you Calgary Holiday Inn Express for making my first vacation a time to remember and cherish

Let me first explain why my opinion should carry weight and you can trust it. 6 years ago my husband and I took a 25k mile cross country road trip and stayed at mostly only Holiday Inn Express (only didn’t if it was not available) and since then we became IHG rewards members (pro tip: you should too, you save points by stays that can be used for future stays when you save up enough points and reward rooms are available and it really does add up to savings, no lie. And it costs nothing to join or in any way.). So for the last 6 years ever since our trip we have stayed exclusively at Holiday Inn Express whenever and wherever we go. Fast forward to present day and we are taking another trip that is not only cross country in the US but this time also includes Canada to a degree. We have found the best room ever in all our stays at this location! It is located conveniently for exploring the city of Calgary and also for taking a day trip to Banff about 1.25 hours drive from here. We stayed in a king executive room and it is by far the best room we have stayed in ever of all the IHG rooms we have stayed in. It is like having an apartment with the bonus of daily cleaning! There is a large living space with a sofa, flat panel tv, huge closet, drawers in the stand below the tv, small sink/microwave/fridge, place to hang your purse and set your keys/wallet etc and a desk with a comfy chair. There is also a private balcony that no other guest can access due to a glass partition. You get a full length mirror and a separate bedroom with a pocket door to close off if you want, a super comfy king bed, a flat panel tv, dresser and lights and floating side table on each side. You have another open air closet to hang things should you need to and a huge bathroom with the lighted mirror we love in Holiday Inn Express properties that have been updated to the newer build. So we loved the accommodations! That could be all and if so that would have been enough BUT it isn’t, on top of the room being awesome the staff was equally amazing and so friendly and so attentive! They all were great in our interactions with the front desk staff, housekeeping staff and even maintenance staff changing all room locks to new ones. And even that would have been great. BUT we had the absolute pleasure to meet Abdel and what an honor it was. He mans the front desk from mid morning until late night and he is like a ray of sunshine shining in this lobby! He is extremely welcoming and just honestly a fantastic person who makes you feel like you are with family and have known him forever. He is super professional of course but he is also very kind and helpful and one of those people you come across if you are blessed that you can know is genuinely good to his core with no show or motivation to gain anything from being so. He just is and you just feel it throughout the entire experience you have interacting with him! If I was in management at the corporate level I would advance this man immediately because he deserves that respect and is a total asset far and beyond the norm of even great staff! The man is someone who you could rely on taking care of this wonderful location but also this amazing brand at a more macro level! I love this property, room, staff, city and shining star Abdel! Thank you so much for making our stay a 10/10!!!!
