Came up for two days with another couple for a quick weekend. Easy walk from the ferry, almost everything was walkable, The front desk folks were great and super customer focused (tried to get names but they were all great!).They got us in a bit early, the upgraded room was excellent, the location is perfect, the local beers at Bartholomews were fantastic (note to Diamond folks; the bar is not part of the hotel. so your vouchers won't work); all in all an excellent stay!

Update: pre check in was a breeze. Valet gave options for street parking. I’m looking forward to enjoyable stay. I would rather the hotel had parking options for clients. Will update the rating once I check in.

I only stayed for one night in November, and I’m grateful it was only one night. The pros? The hotel is located at a convenient location, the bedding is comfortable, the rooms are a good size, it was quiet, and I had a nice slight view of the harbour. The con, and the reason why I’m opting for two stars is the room temperature. It was set to a preset temperature that could not be changed. I was so cold that I couldn’t sleep. Like, I was actually shivering. I had to take a hot shower for 15 minutes to warm up my body. Same thing in the morning. Cold once I woke up and had to take another hot shower and immediately throw on my thickest clothes. My body naturally runs cold, so this sucked for me. I’m sure someone who runs hot would have loved it. According to the hotel, they’re upgrading their HVAC system and are aware that some rooms have this issue. That’s it. A brief apology and an excuse. If I’d known I was going to be freezing cold, I would not have booked at the Hilton. I’m sure the experience would have been amazing had the room temperature not been an issue. Everything else was good. But I just wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone right now while they’re in the middle of their upgrades. Stick to the usual 3-star hotels. The 4-star apparently isn’t that great. Now I have a new fear when booking hotels. I guess I’m going to have to call and ask if their HVAC systems are running okay before booking. Jeez.

We loved our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Victoria. The beds were incredibly comfortable — I honestly slept better than at home. I especially want to highlight the kindness of the staff during check-out. A tall, well-groomed young man with long dark hair (appearing to be of Indian descent) was exceptionally helpful. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his name, but his service was outstanding — he helped us with our luggage and allowed us to store it for a few hours after check-out. Truly exceptional hospitality that made a great impression.
