During my stay, most of the front desk staff (Nov 16–17) were polite and attentive, handling questions, car service, and check-ins smoothly.
However, on Nov 18 around 10–11 a.m., one young staff member, Brandon, seemed polite initially when handling the keys but became noticeably less courteous afterward. When my wife asked for the valet key, his response felt abrupt, and later, when I thanked him, he ignored it. I also noticed he didn’t acknowledge another family who arrived shortly before checkout.
This interaction stood out because all other staff were professional and welcoming. The behavior felt inconsistent and left the experience unpleasant. It seemed like he might treat people differently depending on the situation.

This aspect was huge for me - when staff valet parked my electric car, they actually put it on charge for me at no extra cost. So when I left it was fully charged. (🙏)
Staff were exceptionally nice. (Especial shout out to Shadrack).
The only thing I would note is that there is no hotel bar, and the Ruby restaurant closes at 3:00 p.m.. so if you turn up after then and want something to eat, you have to leave the hotel. That was a bit tricky for us as my accompanying guest has mobility issues. Also if you want to meet somebody for a coffee, unless you want their mehl vending machine coffee, you can't really do that there.
The double queen room was snug and has a weird set up - the sink is outside the bathroom and the full length mirror was in front of a counter (so you were unable to view the reflection fully). But the beds were wonderfully comfy.
Great location to downtown Victoria.

I had such a wonderful experience at the Best Western Carlton Plaza in Victoria! The location is perfect — right in the heart of downtown, walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the Inner Harbour. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and welcoming. The front desk team was friendly, professional, and always ready to help with directions or local recommendations.
My room was spotless, spacious, and well-equipped with everything I needed. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I loved how quiet the hotel was despite being so central. The valet service was quick and efficient, and I appreciated the added convenience.
This is our second stay at this hotel, and it continues to exceed our expectations in every regard. The accommodations are immaculate, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the level of service remains exceptional. Jessica at the front desk deserves special recognition for her professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine commitment to guest satisfaction. Experiences like this are the reason we look forward to returning.
