  This hotel has so much potential. I really want to love it, and in a lot of ways I do, but there are a few areas where some changes would make a huge difference. For context, I stay here during the winter months while my family goes mountain sledding. Hotels in Valemount fill up quickly on weekends, with riders coming from all over Alberta and nearby provinces. Best Western Plus Valemount Inn & Suites has a reputation for being “the place to stay” when visiting, and that’s exactly why I think it could be even better. One area that could really improve is the Cranberry Lounge. Why not maximize the seating? The high top tables should have at least six chairs each. The couches in the corners would feel more functional with two chairs across from the large couch and one on the side. The fireplace seating on both sides could easily fit a minimum of four lounge chairs each. With how busy it gets on sledding weekends, more thoughtful seating would go a long way. We had dinner in the lounge and unfortunately it did not match the atmosphere. The fish was bland and the fries came out cold. Service was very slow. Our food took about 45 minutes to arrive, we were never offered drink refills, and it took another 25 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it. With the number of guests coming through, especially in winter, improving food quality and service speed would really elevate the experience. Another suggestion would be extending the hot tub hours. Riders spend all day on the mountain and want to soak at night. Keeping it open until at least 11 pm would make sense. An adult only hour later in the evening would be even better. There are so many things this hotel does right. The music playing throughout the main areas is lovely. I’m actually writing this while sitting in the lounge, enjoying the sunshine through the floor to ceiling windows. It really is beautiful. This room alone, along with the stunning wood fireplace, is what keeps me coming back. That said, the hallway music could be turned down or off earlier in the morning. The sledders may head out at 7 am, but the rest of us might be hoping to sleep in until 9:30 or 10, which feels like a rare luxury. Having music carry into the rooms that early is frustrating. I also want to mention the gentleman at the front desk. He is so kind and welcoming. I wish I could remember his name, but he truly stands out. You are awesome.

  Excellent staff, fairly quiet, lots of parking, comfortable beds, good water pressure and very reasonably priced.

  The gentleman at the front counter (Asian male - i don't remember his name) was extremely rude when I asked for bottles of water as per my perks of being a rewards member. He gave me attitude upon my request and attempted to steer me to use the vending machines which only took coins. I tried to tell him that every other best western, I usually get water but he sharply said "no sir". When I suggested an idea to just charge my room, he shot back by saying "no". And when I was taken a back by his responses. I politely advised him that im not trying to argue where he slammed 2 bottles of water on the desk and said "just take them". He did this infront of my 8 year old son. Absolutely unprofessional attitude and behaviour i have experienced by front desk personell.
