I am writing this review because I have something important to convey to the Housekeeping Manager. Please read this carefully. I stayed alone for about ten days in November 2025, and I encountered two extremely troubling incidents related to housekeeping—situations I have never experienced in my entire life. Both incidents left me deeply upset. The Holiday Inn provided a “Do Not Disturb” sign that read “I am busy.” I hung this sign on my door whenever I needed privacy. Despite this, I experienced two incidents that I still cannot comprehend. First Incident One morning, I was working on my computer, still in the clothes I had slept in, drinking coffee. Suddenly, the door to my room burst open. I was completely shocked. Even though the DND sign was clearly hanging on my doorknob, a housekeeper entered my room using a master key—without knocking or announcing herself. She stepped fully inside the room; I could clearly see her shoes. I asked, stunned, “Didn’t you see the sign I hung on the door?” Without stepping back outside, she replied, “Yes, I saw it. But I can still change everything and clean your room.” I told her, “I’m working right now. Since I’m in the room, it would be uncomfortable for you to clean, and I can’t step out dressed like this. Please don’t.” It was unbelievable that such an incident occurred. But what happened next was even more shocking. Second Incident One afternoon, I went out for a short while. Once again, I hung the Do Not Disturb sign("I AM BUSY") on my door. When I returned, my room had been cleaned, and the sign had been removed and left on the floor inside the room. I was absolutely stunned. I did not want housekeeping, and I had left personal items in the bathroom and on the bed. The fact that someone entered my private space, touched my belongings, and cleaned the room against my wishes made me feel violated and disrespected. Throughout my stay, I spent nearly every morning working in my room and stepped out only briefly in the late afternoon for dinner. I did not want to be disturbed—and yet these incidents happened. During my ten-day stay, there were two days when I left the room without hanging the DND sign, intending to receive housekeeping. I even left a $5 tip on the table each time. As a solo traveler, I honestly did not need much housekeeping, but I offered the tip anyway. This was my second stay at Holiday Inn Metrotown. The front desk staff were exceptionally kind, and the breakfast was excellent. However, I sincerely hope that basic standards of housekeeping etiquette are properly upheld in the future. No guest should ever experience what I experienced. Additional Note This photo was taken just before I checked out. As a guest, I have always tried to be respectful and considerate, and I sincerely hope the hotel can extend the same courtesy to its guests.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The manager (Brandon Roque) was rude, the location is not safe and the room was loud. I arrived with my credit card as it was required and asked to be charged on my visa debit (which I confirmed was allowed while booking it on the phone with a representative). My credit card has a small limit and I had just purchased a large item the morning prior and did not have enough credit to cover the hotel cost on the card so ai wanted to pay with my debit visa debit ir cash but they refused to take it as payment. I went online and googled and the hotel policy confirmed using my debit visa was an acceptable form of payment. The manager told me they have an individual policy not allowing anyone to pay with anything other then a credit card. However, when booking the room they accepted my visa debit for the room deposit. After an hour of arguing with them and him telling me I will have to find some where else to stay (its now 9pm, the area is super sketchy and I have traveled hours from vancouver island alone). I called my credit card and pleaded with them for an immediate credit limit advance. They agreed and I stayed the night reluctantly (I had no where else to go). They then tried to tell me I could only have my guest until 10pm (its now 930pm). Ridiculous. The road traffic outside was loud and the breakfast the next morning was awful. There was also a shooting next door the day before I later learned about. Choose another hotel on another street to reduce your stress and stay safe! This place is a joke and not even cheap.

No flexibility with the rooms, always charging extra. Charged me an extra 120.00 to have my children stay in the room overnight with me despite conversation with my company stating only “60.00 ” would be charged to have my 4 year old and 1 year old sleep in the same bed as me overnight. This was discussed prior to my arrival and at the front desk, who apologize. (Nothing against front desk they were very kind). I agreed to pay the 60.00 as I had no other option for my children, but have never had to do this before. Also staff questioned my company if I was actually going to “watch my children” when we were in the room for the night. When asking for a manager to call me- I was told they were busy and it took me multiple attempts to connect after my stay. I was told the 120.00 charge would stand even though this was not discussed prior to my check in- only the 60.00. Company recently booked again and we had to cancel Monday for Sunday night and was charged full rate despite having an unexpected situation arise with a sick child and no flexibility. Was told by the travel agency that the hotel refused to waive their cancellation despite advising of the situation. I will never book here myself and will be asking my company to not book me here any more.

Has a clean swimming pool with heated water kept in a comfortable temperature. It’s connected to the mall without needing to walk out of the lobby. Highly recommended!
