The hotel is in a nice area with grocery stores and a Target nearby. The grounds and lobby are well kept but the rooms are a little run down and not well cleaned. The breakfast is subpar even for a free hotel breakfast. However, the front desk staff were all fantastic.

The lady that was working the front desk was unavailable for some time, we got there around 5:30pm no one was around, we waited and waited until I started saying hello, helloooo then she came out from the back room, she was very rude, said our room wasn’t ready yet, she had tattoos on her neck, very unprofessional, no complimentary cookies, but you could buy a Walmart cookie for $5 dollars, no breakfast unless you wanted to pay $16 from the restaurant that was serving the same breakfast that every IHG serves without the cinnamon rolls, and a ridiculous $12 a night for parking, overall she was just a nasty person and seemed racist and confrontational

Sleeping with toilet smell... elevator make an holloween sound effect noise... just old hotel I arrived evening and ahead of me one previous customer already waiting crew to check-in. A while later she came to ...and I had made double trips to get my room key properly work. One of two keys didn't work until I checked out. And this holyday-inn express didn't include the breakfast. All things considered I wouldn't choose this place sgain.

I rarely ever research places I stay for business as I assume a name brand hotel is going to be clean, have friendly service and treat their guests with respect. Unfortunately, this was not the case at the Holiday Inn Express on Ocotillo Rd, Chandler, AZ. I am not a smoker or vaper but I was hit with $1000.00 smoking fee for my stay that will be paid out of my pocket. I arrived back at the hotel and found paperwork under my door showing I had 3 Air Quality Alerts to my room on the first 3 days I was in the hotel. I immediately contacted the GM of the hotel and engaged in a series of email conversations. 2 of the quality alerts were after I had left for dinner and 1 was while I was sleeping. I told Ira this and he did not seem concerned or care about the timing. I refrained from using any aerosol products like my body deodorant spray or my clothing wrinkle release spray as to not release any VOC's into the room for the rest of my stay. Bottom line he would not even go to the room to investigate even when I offered to leave my work and meet him personally at the hotel and just wanted to charge me the $1000.00. I maintain these sensors are faulty as they are not performing any type preventative maintenance and periodic calibration verification. As am Environmental, Health and Safety professional, I am quite familiar with how these systems are to be maintained and failure to properly maintain them results in false positives (see the picture of the sensor). The hotel and the GM are using this as a way to increase their profits and do not take complaints about the system seriously. My 7-night stay turned into a $2000.00+ stay which is ridiculous. Check the many, many negative reviews about the smoking charge at this hotel that are available on many if not all of the review sites like TripAdvisor, Google, and even the IHG review sites. I will never stay at this hotel ever again.
