The hotel was easy to get to from the highway. The breakfast was very good. The only seating space when we arrived for breakfast was bar seating facing out toward the lobby. I would have chosen a standard table and would suggest that an extra table or two might be helpful. But it was two days after Christmas so it was probably busier at the hotel than normal and the bar seating was comfortable. Also, it was facing the TV and was at a comfortable viewing distance so it might have been perfect for someone who wanted to watch a sporting event, news, etc. or a good way to pass the time for someone eating breakfast alone. The service at the front desk was very good. The front desk person always responded quickly to our issues. Unfortunately, there were too many issues for them to respond to. The lock on the first assigned room couldn't be locked. The lock was apparently out of alignment between the door and the door frame and couldn't be locked no matter how hard we tried. We went to the front desk and were assigned a new room but one on a different floor than our traveling companions. We had requested and were originally assigned a room on the same floor as our traveling companions. My roommate was my niece and our traveling companions were my sister and brother-in-law. Being on the same floor would make it safer for my niece to go to and from her parents' room than having to take the elevator or the stairs to their floor so being on a different floor wasn't a huge deal but it wasn't ideal. However, we were driving and we had booked the rooms within an hour or so of our arrival at the hotel, as that was the most convenient stopping point that evening. If the rooms had been booked with more lead time it's possible a move from the original room wouldn't have been required. It's not uncommon for hotels to have maintenance issues in a few rooms. It's possible the hotel was almost full when the reservation was made. If the only rooms available included rooms with maintenance issues, it's possible rooms with maintenance issues, the issues might have been highlighted at the hotel level but not made unavailable on the website. When we went to the front desk, if the maintenance issues weren't described and only rooms with maintenance issues were available, the front desk person wouldn't have known which rooms had maintenance issues that made them unusable vs. maintenance issues that made the rooms somewhat subpar but still acceptable. Our second assigned room was a connecting room. We didn't request a connecting room and we didn't know who or if anyone was in the connected room. That wouldn't have been an issue but the connecting door lock on our side didn't work so we couldn't lock out anyone from the connected room. We again went to the front desk and were assigned a new room. The third room's door locked and it was not a connecting room. However, the bathroom door was caught on the bathroom floor at about 75% open and it was very hard to pull it off the sticking point. It also didn't close completely. It closed enough that my roommate, my niece, couldn't see into the bathroom from her bed but anyone walking to the room's door or entering the room from the hallway would have been able to see in the bathroom. The rooms appeared to be clean and the beds were very comfortable. I also really liked the combination light filtering and light blocking roller style blinds in the room. They look cleaner/sleeker than curtains. Also, if you watch a lot of murder mysteries, with the blinds you don't have to worry about someone hiding behind the curtains. 😁 There was one issue that occurred in both of our rooms. My sister and brother-in-law's room had a significant amount of mold on the shower wall and there were a couple of small mold spots in the corner of the shower wall in our room. Overall, the hotel looked like it might be in some degree of refurbishment. There were more issues than normal but it was otherwise a comfortable overnight stay.
