We checked in long-term we were supposed to stay a month due to our house catching fire and burning. I spent six years 30 days at a time in and seven days out staying in Marriott residents in. around the country so I’m very familiar with long-term hotel stays. The hotel staff is rude and expression less. today as we came down to the breakfast area at 8:15 AM. We were the only people in the breakfast area, but the lady maintaining the breakfast area was very quick to tell me and the children we could not sit by the window at two tables. that we needed to sit in the middle of the area away from the window. At a bigger table. The restaurant is empty. The kids wanted to go over to the Hampton anyway for the indoor pool. This one has a kitchenette, however is the smallest most incomplete kitchenette I’ve ever seen in a hotel suite. I read some of the other reviews and believe the complaints to be on the point. if you’re traveling through, you may want to drive the other 45 minutes to Chattanooga or Birmingham. they do not appreciate your business. The fact that a person who works in the kitchen would tell the customer where to sit in an empty complementary hotel dining area, is rude especially we were the only ones in the kitchen in the dining Area.
*** so when I mentioned to the manager and the kitchen help that I thought it was rude that they would not allow me to sit by the window. The kitchen Help quickly jumped back in at me loudly, saying she shouldn’t have to clean two small tables when the 4 of us could sit at one large table. I responded then. The front desk person jumped in and told me to go back to my room like I was a child. I’m 70 years old and I have three children with me. Unfortunately, I responded that I would be moving out immediately and they said fine go. Never once was there an apology. I find itShocking that hotel staff is will tell a father with his children where to sit, especially with no one else dining area. And then justify it by saying they didn’t want to clean the two small tables. And we’re quick to tell me they could care less I was leaving.

We won't be back here. The TV didn't work, the Internet didn't work, the phones are jacked up as well. I complain about all the above things being wrong thinking they would do what any respectful business would do and at least discount the next night and they charged me more money for a smaller room that doesn't even have a microwave in the room. I have spent over $300 in two nights and have gotten none of my school work done like I was supposed to have been doing due to the Internet not working. We will not be back here or any IHG hotel!! When I contact them they repeat everything the manager told me already. Undoubtedly they are one in the same!

We stayed at the Candlewood Suites in Fort Payne, Alabama the night of December 24th 2025. We booked this hotel because they advertise “a complimentary breakfast featuring hot and cold favorites”. This is important because very few restaurants are open in Fort Payne on Christmas day and the few that are are packed. When we were checking in I saw a faded sign in a plastic holder sitting on the counter. A photo of this sign is attached. It was not mentioned by the front desk clerk, Hannah. No advance notice was given when booking the room. When I saw it I picked it up and showed it to my wife and said “Look, they are pulling this crap again”. By again I meant that we had stayed at the Hampton Inn in Fort Payne that is owned by the same people a few years back on Christmas eve and they also didn’t serve the hot breakfast advertised and gave no advance notice. While my wife was looking at the sign Hannah said “Everybody deserves a day off’. I said “Yes, but everyone also deserves to get what they paid for and you should have let us know when booking”. Hannah then said “You should have called the hotel and asked if we were serving breakfast” implying it was my fault for not asking ahead. I replied “You mean the breakfast your website said you were serving?” Hannah just looked at me with a dumb expression on her face. No apology, no concern, nothing but absolute apathy. By her logic everyone should call ahead to ask if breakfast is being served, if the elevators are working, if the ice machines are working, if the A/C is working, etc. It was too late to cancel and go somewhere else so we went to the room to be greeted by Asian beetles and stink bugs. We figured there was no point to complain since Hannah didn’t care about anything. We had future reservations there but canceled them as soon as we got to the room. Between false advertising, the bugs and Hannah’s attitude we had no desire to stay there again.
