silverfish in the shower and random phone calls from staff, but i liked the apple juice, so did everyone else so it ran out 20 minutes into breakfast. also a light was located directly outside my window and it was on all night peering through the curtains

Having stayed in a dozen or more Holiday Inn Express hotels, I can write confidently that this feels like a completely different, inferior chain. The floor in the room is sticky and the toilet struggles to function. Outside of the room, the hallway floor in some areas is sagging and creaky, and the pool and pancake machine are both marked as out of order. I have been in motels that are half the price yet cleaner and less run-down in appearance.
The employees are pleasant, and I deem them to be doing the best they can with what corporate has given them.

I was so happy they started putting the breakfast out a little early. We like to get on the road at daylight on vacation.

The room was not ready after 3, so the clerk said he would call me when it was ready. Granted, I was with a large group who also had rooms. However, the clerk didn't call me about the room. The staff made me feel welcome in the lobby and downstairs dining area while i waited. I had to go ask him if it was ready. But the room was in remarkably well-kept condition and cleanliness. Overall, a great stay.
