Solid choice for Kodiak. Solid rooms & food. I’d be nervous about relying on their early airport shuttle.

The check-in people at the front desk were rude and very unhelpful. Maybe some customer service training is needed.

The overall experience was great, great rooms and great facilities. Breakfast was good. Only problem is that on the morning of our flight, the scheduled airport shuttle just didn't show up, receptionist tried to call him 2 times and that's it. If not for our own resolve, our group would have missed the flight from Kodiak.

The Best Western Kodiak could be an exceptional hotel. The location is unbeatable, and there’s even a giant (taxidermy) bear in the lobby. But unfortunately, it’s run by a general manager who seems completely disengaged from both her responsibilities and the guests’ experiences. Many of the rooms are also exposed directly to the outside, like a Motel 6- which means that they get super cold in the winter and very hot in the summer- because they don't have air conditioning and Alaska winters are known to be very cold.
During my recent stay, I woke up early to prepare for a business meeting only to find there was no hot water. Imagine trying to shower in ice cold Alaska water. I called the front desk, and to their credit, maintenance responded quickly and confirmed the issue. I left for my meeting unshowered and uncomfortable, hoping to speak with management while checking out- but the manager wasn't in the building.
I called later, and by 9:30 a.m., the general manager, was still not on-site. I left my number and asked for a callback. Hours passed without a response, so I called the hotel and the general manager had still not arrived to work. The next day, by 3 p.m., I still had not heard back from her.
Beyond the lack of response from the manager, the hotel itself has major issues: the building smells of mold and mildew, the rooms are outdated and worn, and the atmosphere feels neglected. It’s incredibly disappointing to see such a promising property deteriorate under poor leadership.
Until the management changes or starts taking their role seriously, I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone — no matter how good the location may be.
