  This place seems like one of the nicer spots in the area. The receptionist was very pleasant and nice in getting my room set up. I’m fond of the space..:: My only qualm is that I am a light sleeper and am writing this review at 2:45 AM as I toss and turn while a someone who must be a giant in the room above me, stomps back and forth and seems to be making all kinds racket in the middle of the night. It seems to me these walls are super thin and noise echos. It’s not the white noise I was quite hoping for. Unfortunately after a long flight , I was hoping for a little more peace and quiet, especially for such a remote place. Other aspects of the room and place are nice. Edit: after 3 nights of absolutely horrible sleep and being annoyed with the person above me constantly making noise during the night and early morning, I feel the experience left me very frazzled. Unless you get the very top floor, I would try and find someplace else bc the noise literally reverberates into your room.

  UPDATED: The first paragraph is the update... Been at the hotel for about an hour and had re evaluate. Sink was dirty and had hairs on the edge. TV doesn't work and no ETA on repairs...days or weeks. Phone doesn't work so I had to use my cell to call the front desk. Poop or something that looks like it on bathroom wall. Pics included. Even toilet paper shoved in a hole in the wall to make ot look "better" LOL. Vent doesn't appear to have been cleaned in a LONG time. Pool broken like seemingly always. Even found an old set of room keys to a totally different room on the shelf above the closet. They must be pretty old because "pool" is written on one in sharpie. Definitely not the pioneer park I remember. BUT it does look like remodeling is in the works, so, high hopes. I am not typically a complainer as you can see by my other reviews but felt like I needed to set your expectations on this best western "PLUS". I do want to reiterate that the front desk was SUPER NICE" Have not stayed here in a while. Great price! Ok location. Pool broken, like seemingly always. Front desk very friendly and remodeling seems to be In progress... in a good way.

  When I tell you that there is nothing better than waking up to the smell of bacon, I mean that with my entire soul.. I was lucky enough to get a room on the first floor close to the lobby. In the morning when the bacon was cooking, that is what woke me up, I felt like I truly found my happy place. The guy who handles the breakfast buffet, does a really good job of keeping it stocked and clean, everything is fresh, he is very courteous and will not even shake hands because he is handling food. I asked his name, I think he said it's CJ.The breakfast changes every day. It's an actual meal, not just cereal and muffins like most places. There is a coffee and hot chocolate machine in the lobby available anytime. The indoor pool is nice and clean. My room was right next to it, and couldn't hear the kids who were playing in the pool. There was no noise coming from other rooms or in the lobby, it was a very peaceful stay. My room was cleaned every day and beds made. they have the best smelling shampoo conditioner and body wash. It's a brand ive never seen before. The staff is very helpful, they recommended the hot springs, which is the best place ever to go here.. This place in part is the reason that I will return to visit Alaska. I'm from Florida BTW..

  The walls are thin but the room was clean, the continental breakfast was delicious, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

  3 nights stay in May 2025. Beautiful room, clean, breakfast was amazing, good location for walking downtown and staff were lovely. Look out for Rudolph if you stay here. It had me laughing for the whole time.
