If you want to experience the absolute apex of corporate brain rot and weaponized bureaucracy, try reporting a downed utility cable on your property to the Fredericksburg Cox/Spectrum office. An exterior cable was dragging across my yard—a clear physical safety hazard and an immediate threat to their own infrastructure. After their phone system disconnected my attempt to report this four consecutive times, I drove directly to the local store in Fredericksburg to report the issue in person. The staff’s response to a property owner flagging a physical hazard on their land? They flatly refused to log the trouble ticket because the billing account is in my spouse's name. Let me be exceptionally clear: reporting a dangerous, sagging utility line on private property is a PUBLIC SAFETY OBLIGATION, not a request to alter a channel lineup or view billing history. Apparently, Fredericksburg Cox/Spectrum’s official stance is that hazardous infrastructure on private land is completely ignorable unless the "authorized account holder" grants them permission to care. My spouse actually had to travel to the store in person just so these people would accept a warning about their own dragging wire. This is corporate absurdism and safety negligence at its peak. Retrain your retail personnel on basic hazard protocols before your breathtaking incompetence results in personal injury or property damage. The lack of concern and basic common sense here is astounding. Do better.
