Silver Star Communications rich history began in 1912 by a group of ranchers and businessmen. Because the population was not large enough to attract the Bell Telephone Company to lower Star Valley Wyoming, the group utilized livestock fencing to carry telephone lines across the valley. In 1956, the Hoopes family purchased the company which has been owned by the family since that time.
In 1990, Silver Star placed the first fiber optic cable in our local exchange area. Since then, we have built out more than 1,800 miles of company-owned fiber optic cable in our network in both local & competitive exchanges. With peering connectivity to Salt Lake, Denver, Seattle and Chicago, our rural customers are solidly connected to the rest of the world.
