Dealing with Cox Mobile Customer Service is nothing less than unforgettable. I received a replacement phone and SIM card through the Asurion insurance claim process (contracted with Cox, my provider) on July 7, 2026. I was unable to fully activate and use it until close of business July 20, 2026. Something so simple became a headache. Nobody, not even escalations could figure out why my SIM number didn't exist, and kept asking me as though I had the answers, I figured out by myself that i had to remove the number lock protection to transfer the phone number to the SIM, and when I finally reached an agent who followed what they learned from training, assisted me as far as she was permitted, left VERY DETAILED NOTES regarding the issue for her supervisor, SHAWN, who immediately said there was nothing he could do before reading her notes. Then read her notes, acknowledged how wonderful, and still displayed no supervisor capabilities or entry level effort. Once I figured out the number lock situation, they wouldn't unlock it because they couldn't verify my identity, even though I had to verify everything but my blood type to each and every auto-bot and live agent, they wanted a scanned image of my ID (crazy all this verification wasn't needed setting up autopay for my bill each month, but whatever I guess). I attempted to upload my ID more than 4 times using my phone, tablet and laptop. No success. One more call and I was advised Cox systems were down and images could not be captured, so I was advised to complete the ID verification in store. Upon my arrival to the store the next day, much like on the phone, the staff member began to state how they couldn't help me. Well, I was not going to accept that. I remained under control, but became assertive and Ms. Chyanne, Assistant Store Manager, provided assistance as I am sure she was being paid to do. In the end, she did finally resolve my issue and I was able to use the phone while I sat in my car waiting for the storm to pass. The overall culture of Cox starting interactions with what they CAN'T do without letting the customer finish explaining the issue or looking for notes from previous interactions, is very discouraging. If my bill wasn't so cheap, I would have left a year ago. Internet service and support is outstanding! But Cox Mobile...... I'm definitely getting what I pay for........
