I have been an Astound customer for over 20 years and rarely had issues. Over the past few months however, we have been having frequent outages where my modem loses signal for 10-30 minutes, often at a similar time of day. I know this is not due to my setup, as our neighborhood Facebook group confirms each time that the outages affect everyone in the development. I am also a Network Engineer with 30 years of experience at a Fortune 50 company, so i know how to diagnose network issues. I called Astound today to report the issue and get an idea what their action plan is. They were evasive, and when I was connected to a supervisor the phone connection dropped. No one had the courtesy to call back. I am going to coordinate with the neighbors to plan a mass migration from Astound to another service provider if this continues and Astound does not offer some transparency. My wife and I both work from home and we cannot tolerate this volume of service issues.

This is a company that legitimately HATES their customers and refuses to do system maintenance. As frustrating as it is, I can get over the pricing games they play, as RCN did the same thing. HOWEVER, RCN actually maintained their network, and I NEVER had an internet outage in over a decade of having RCN, even throughout multiple severe storms. Unfortunately, the result of selling out to a private equity company means that shareholder profits are put above customer needs (system maintenance), so people that have literally never had their service go out are now dealing with outages at least monthly, and sometimes weekly. In June of 2025, I started recording the outages, and I've had an extended outage 12 times over the last 6 months. It's simply NOT acceptable for customers to be paying for a service that they're not receiving. Astound customers shouldn't be forced to buy Starlink as a backup service because Astound is so ridiculously unreliable, but that's precisely where we are today. Shame on Astound/Stonepeak for ruining what was once a great local business!

Astound takes advantage of the elderly and tech illiterate to sell them equipment and plans they do not need. My elderly mother called Astound to fix a line that went down that caused her to lose internet in February of 2025. The tech that came out told my mother she needed their router and modem because hers was “fried” from the internet line going down. For almost a year they charged my mother over $40 to rent a modem and router. While visiting my mother for the holidays I had my husband, who is in networking, take a look. Her router modem combo was absolutely fine and the only thing that needed to be done was an astound tech had to reactivate the modem on their end again, something the tech who came out should have done. To date my mother has been charged over $400 for equipment she didn’t need. When confronting a sales representative at the office, the representative lied about the amount of time my mother had been paying for the router and modem rental; my mother has paper copies of all her bills for the past year where the rental cost is evidently displayed. The company is using fraudulent techniques for financial gain. I have since discovered many people who have been swindled by them. I will be filing an FCC complaint as well as contacting the PA attorney general. To anyone reading this who is also a victim of their fraudulent techniques, please do the same. To Jeff on the phone who did as much as he could to make this right, thank you. He backdated the modem connection two months which essentially refunded two months worth of rental costs. He could see on his end that my mom’s modem had been connected previously and even asked why it was no longer being used. I explained the situation. I know there was probably nothing else he could do on his end, and I thoroughly appreciate what he did do, but the company needs to refund my mother all of the charges she has paid since February for the rental.

It is crazy paying $173/month for "Broken" Internet and Zero Accountability I have been an Astound customer for years, but the service has become unusable. For the about 2 months, my modem log on the arris page has been showing T-3 and T-4 timeouts (critical communication failures with the ISP). Despite calling multiple times and being told there is a "known node issue" in my area, they have failed to fix it. When I called to request a credit for the service I didn't receive, I was told my bill would stay at $176/month—nearly 4x what they charge new customers for the same service. I tried to negotiate a new pricing, and they lowered it to $150 for 1gb internet that is still not working.(Their current promotion for new customers is $40 for the gig internet) When I decided to cancel due to the high price and broken tech, they refused to honor any credits for the months of outages. It feels like they are fining me for leaving the service. If you are in the Lehigh Valley, stay away. They would rather lose a loyal customer for over 4 years than fix their equipment or offer a fair market rate.

If I could give -10 stars I would!! This is the worst service, worst cable, and worst customer service I’ve ever had. They need to fix everything about this company!! The support agents will get sassy and snap back at you, they will talk back and argue with you as if you are a child. And that’s only if you can reach an agent because the wait times are always 30-60 minutes. The support agents degraded me. Then they hung up on me and disconnected from the chat multiple times now. Then they had the audacity to send me a promotion to buy something else when we want to cancel this service. During every wind or heavy rain storm our lights will flicker every 30-60 minutes. When this happens our wifi takes an insane 5 minutes or more to reboot back up. And then they forced us to switch to an internet tv(IPTV). So the cable box is no longer connected to our actual cable line, it uses wifi only. So then in addition to the 5 minutes for the wifi, then the cable box takes 15-20 minutes more to reboot back up so we can watch tv. Basically during windy days we can only watch 5 minutes of tv every hour which is absolutely ridiculous because if it was hooked up to the actual cable line this would’ve never happened. And the cable box and modem are so slow!!! This is 2025 and everything is slower than ever. Yet they made the cable box smaller and smaller but yet it is the slowest it has ever been. A staggering 20 minutes just for the tv to come back on during inclement weather. Astound knows this area has power issues where the lights flicker during every storm which we have very frequent storms in this area. They should have never switched to an IPTV box. Even when the power doesn’t flicker the cable box still freezes our cable tv and we have to wait so long. We are paying customers for over 20 years now and have service in multiple homes. This is absolutely ridiculous and the company should be ashamed of themselves.
