  We moved in at the end of last month on a Sunday and had an Astound technician scheduled to set up our internet between 2-5 pm. After calling at 4:30 pm when he hadn't arrived yet, we were told he was on his way. He arrived close to 5 pm and worked for over an hour trying to get everything set up. At this point we already had to delay our dinner plans. At the end, he wasn't able to properly set up our wifi since he mentioned the central router in our building was broken but said that someone would be sent in Monday first thing in the morning. When we followed up Monday around noon when no one showed up, they told us that a repair order hadn't actually been submitted, and the earliest availability was Tuesday night. At this point there was still no guarantee that the central wifi would be fixed. Since my partner and I both work from home, going without internet for three days (including two workdays) wasn't feasible. We ended up having Verizon come Tuesday morning, and they were able to set up wifi for us. I really do prefer working with smaller companies, and I've heard wonderful things about Astound, which is why I chose them initially. I completely understand that these situations can happen, but the combination of the delay after delay and miscommunication made this quite challenging for us. We also tried to have the $20 setup fee waived since the wifi wasn't successfully installed, but weren't able to get that adjusted. An account manager said she’d waive it for us but then ended up telling me to talk to customer service instead - which feels like so much overhead that I just didn’t bother doing.

  Avoid This Company at All Costs! This company is a complete scam designed to take your money. They were charging me $180 per month for home Wi-Fi - and one month, it even jumped to $255! My plan was supposed to be $40 for unlimited Wi-Fi, and I’m barely home most of the time. After switching to Spectrum, I canceled their service, but they still charged me $130 because I hadn’t returned their modem yet. While I understand late fees, this is absurd - I always paid in full and within the same month. In total, I’ve paid thousands of dollars just for basic internet service. Absolutely unbelievable. Do not use this company.

  I was a long time Astound customer. Finally decided to change to another service because Astound kept raising the price. Switched to another company that is charging me half the amount of what Astound costs for faster internet. Be aware Astound WILL NOT pro-rate your bill if you cancel in the middle of billing cycle. Absolutely predatory business practice. Astound has lost a customer for life. I would never use their service again period.

  Internet works, most of the time, as intended but the sales person Erik Estevez completely lied during the sales process. I was promised 1 free line of mobile, $200 gift card, and symmetrical download/upload speeds. Literally none of these things were true upon signing up. Customer Service said there's nothing they can do about it, and he hasn't responded to any of my followups by the way. Wildly terrible business practice, absolutely do not recommend. Also in one of the biggest buildings in LIC and Astound, which has fiber optic available in parts of LIC, doesn't have it here (which explains why Erik lied about symmetrical speeds). Result: my wfh video calls regularly sputter, I overpaid for internet that is fine but not great, and I didn't get any of the promised incentives.
