Been trying to get Cox internet for 3 weeks at a house that has a cable modem and coax cable in the house. Cox stayed the house is blocked from previous tenants and refuses to grant internet service. I have no choice but to move out of my house. Unbelievable. The ppl working at this location are very professional but the company is Nothing but a bunch of liars.

As a Cox cable customer in Newport Beach, my nearest Cox store is in Irvine. When our cable converter in the kitchen failed over the weekend, we removed it and took it to the Cox store. I sent my wife, as I wanted her to gain the experience of exchanging a defective rental converter. In the past, they simply scanned the barcode on the bottom and promptly provided an exchange. However, this time they gave her a hard time. They insisted she provide the name of my first pet, as a child. This is a secret question to prove who you are, when all else fails. Needless to say, she had no idea, as she is not me. The fact she had the Cox rental equipment and was simply looking for an exchange was not enough. Se had a drivers license with the same last name and address as the account, meant nothing. She was forced to call me to get the secret answer. I consider this elder abuse, as she was 80 and had trouble hearing through the entire ordeal.
I do not blame the employee, as they were trained to make these unreasonable requests. It is the Cox policy that I find fault with. Am I happy with the Cox cable service? In general yes, but paying more than $3,600 yearly for equipment rental and service should provide me better customer service.
What would Cox had done if I sent my grandson or niece to do the exchange? Maybe Cox selling out to Spectrum brought about this change? Or Cox has simply decided to become less friendly to their paying customers? In any case, should I have any further poor service, I will switch to satellite service. Do not deal with Cox Cable!

This review is to acknowledge the excellent customer service provided by Michael. Yes, it took almost two hours to get my locked phone released by AT&T and to get my new phone set up with Cox, but Michael was very patient with us making the experience as painless as possible!

My name is Mariano, and I want to report an extremely poor experience at the Cox Store. The service is under my wife’s name, but I handled the entire process, including providing a signed authorization letter from her. As instructed over the phone by the representative named Sheila, I brought the authorization letter and presented her valid California ID. Even so, the employee identified as A.B. refused to give me the modem, despite the fact that I followed the instructions exactly as I was told.
Later, once the service was active, my wife was given a modem in unacceptable condition: an extremely old, worn-out, scratched, and visibly dirty device. The photos attached show the condition clearly. I can understand receiving an older model if there is no newer stock, but giving a customer equipment that is physically damaged and unhygienic is unacceptable for a company of Cox’s size.
The treatment we received at the store was negligent, unprofessional, and gave the strong impression of retaliation or bad faith after a prior disagreement with store staff. The manager identified as J.T. was present and did nothing to correct the situation or ensure we received equipment in minimally acceptable condition.
This was our first interaction with Cox after reactivating the service, and the experience was disappointing, improper, and entirely avoidable. I expect Cox to review this behavior and enforce proper customer service and equipment-handling standards.
