    Went to return small modem and was told we needed to return 2 wireless units, which we didn't have. Several back and forth with agent who eventually went to the manager who quickly fixed it.

    Very disappointed with the customer service. Cox as well established in the area. the previous tenants had Cox. I signed up for the lowest plan online, and they sent the modem to my new place. For something that should be very simple, it led to hours of wasted time. First, after chatbots and online assistant chats, I was told the modem had not been registered before they sent it to me and I would have to go to the store. They would not tell me any workaround or what went wrong on their end. The next day I have to borrow a car drive to the store and tell them I received a non-registered modem. Instead of apologizing and feeling bad for the mix-up they act like it should have been obvious and they try to sell me on paying for a higher plan. That their newer generation modem would work better. I couldn't believe it. I told them, I'm just trying to regain confidence in them, I'm not going to give them more money for making mistakes. Give me another old generation unit, and doesn't offer any compensation for my troubles. I asked, how am I to know this will work? He says there's no way to tell and start explaining how to plug a coax cable into the back of it. Even the manager had nothing constructive to say. I asked for more instructions for how to troubleshoot but all they could tell me was how to plug a coax cable in. It gets better.. I hook up the new one and now the light become solid which is a good sign but my phone will not connect. I called the store but, as always, it says "20 minute" wait, and then hangs up after 20 min. I did that twice. I was using both apps, cox and cox pano wifi, neither had any troubleshooting other than power cycling and resetting. Gemini was so much more helpful than cox! After "forgetting" the connection, it worked. But then it wouldn't allow me to change the Wi-Fi password on the app. No info about why not. Turns out you have to do that on the web instead. Plan on defective modems and use Gemini. Never go to this store. They're insensitive and only want more money. 2 stars because the store was clean and they were dressed nice. on hold it just hangs up

    This is a disgusting company! I hope it goes bankrupt soon! I've been using Cox's home network for $60 a month since February 2020. In May 2025, I added mobile data while keeping the home network at $60 a month, and the staff told me I could cancel at any time. However, when I canceled in December because I joined a friend's mobile family plan, the fee inexplicably jumped to $190 a month! When I asked the staff, they said if I canceled before the end of the month, I would only have to pay the original price for that month, but when I left, I found that I had been charged $190 a month for seven days of internet service. And this was during my final week as a student, forcing me to deal with Cox's shady business practices.     As a Cox cable customer in Newport Beach, my nearest Cox store is in Irvine. When our cable converter in the kitchen failed over the weekend, we removed it and took it to the Cox store. I sent my wife, as I wanted her to gain the experience of exchanging a defective rental converter. In the past, they simply scanned the barcode on the bottom and promptly provided an exchange. However, this time they gave her a hard time. They insisted she provide the name of my first pet, as a child. This is a secret question to prove who you are, when all else fails. Needless to say, she had no idea, as she is not me. The fact she had the Cox rental equipment and was simply looking for an exchange was not enough. Se had a drivers license with the same last name and address as the account, meant nothing. She was forced to call me to get the secret answer. I consider this elder abuse, as she was 80 and had trouble hearing through the entire ordeal. I do not blame the employee, as they were trained to make these unreasonable requests. It is the Cox policy that I find fault with. Am I happy with the Cox cable service? In general yes, but paying more than $3,600 yearly for equipment rental and service should provide me better customer service. What would Cox had done if I sent my grandson or niece to do the exchange? Maybe Cox selling out to Spectrum brought about this change? Or Cox has simply decided to become less friendly to their paying customers? In any case, should I have any further poor service, I will switch to satellite service. Do not deal with Cox Cable!
