  They have a fair selection The employees are very friendly and attentive. That being said these are quality items but they are way overpriced.

  Employees appear to be very friendly and helpful when the reality is that they start to help you and just leave to help other people halfway through. I was at REI with my mother looking for a tent when some very friendly employees offered to help us with a tent. They took us to an area and where we could test a tent, however both just left us there like we were supposed to set everything up and know how to do everything ourselves. We had no idea if we were even allowed to cut open the cardboard box that the tent was in and no one came to offer us help. After waiting about ten minutes I saw the employee that was originally going to help us helping a completely different customer. Overall it was a very rude and unprofessional thing to do considering that two employees were helping us and both of them just left. After leaving the store, we also noticed the employee that offered to help us set the tent up in the front just leaving. I would not recommend going here to test products as you will most likely be abandoned by the employee helping you. Overall very disappointed because I have not had issues with that at any other REI.

  Went in looking for a reasonably priced raincoat for my daughter and got sticker shock instead. This was my first time at an REI, and it will likely be my last. I ended up buying a raincoat on Amazon that was of similar quality to the REI brand for half the cost.

  I purchased a rain jacket about a week and a half ago and had let my membership lapse years ago and was talked in to buying another membership and the jacket by a very nice clerk. I was also told by this clerk that if any time within the first year I decide it's not the right size, what have you to feel free to bring it back. I took it back in to return it for a size smaller and the guy helping me had an absolutely terrible attitude, not the slightest bit helpful. I rarely dropped a one-star bomb on any company but when it's deserved its deserved. He had one of the little green vests on so I suppose he was supposed to be out wandering the floor somewhere and probably felt put out that he had to go actually help paying customers check out. I bought the membership but it's the last time I'll be going in REI, absolutely nothing is ever on sale anyway.
