We had a very large in person order and was accidentally charged twice for an item, but we didn’t notice until we got home and checked the receipt. The team and manager were able to resolve everything over the phone. Very impressed with how they handled the situation. Will continue to enthusiastically shop at this location.

This REI is located at the western most section of the mall and is not within the mall, as google suggests. In fact, there is no entrance from inside the mall to REI, you must exit the building and re-enter. Not only is the store difficult to locate, but there is also no store map, signs, or store assistants at the front of the store. I brought in a few skis/boards for service for the first time at this store and couldn’t locate the ski shop upon entering. However, when I finally found it, the gentleman at the ski shop was very kind and helpful.

The employee at the register was rude and condescending when I attempted to return an item, speaking to me in a way that felt judgmental and unnecessary. It genuinely felt as though I was being looked down on, which was uncomfortable and uncalled for. After that, while browsing the store with my child, we stopped to look at a jacket when an employee walked directly toward us without saying “excuse me” or acknowledging us, essentially pushing through as if we were in the way. The lack of basic courtesy was shocking. This experience made me regret starting a membership online with REI. I’ve had a positive experience at the Tacoma location, but the Olympia store was the complete opposite. The staff here could really benefit from additional customer service and DEI training. This was an embarrassing and disappointing experience overall.

He was also great installing it on our vehicle - very friendly, professional, and just a great experience! Oh, and the store is dog friendly so we brought our fur babies in and all of the staff were so great to them. Wonderful people, wonderful store, highly recommended!
