  I went yesterday to try looking for some mid-hiking boots. At first, I felt super defeated because I have some difficult feet. But I got the most amazing service! This guy, I think his name was Alex (had on a beenie) he measured me and immediately things shifted! I explained some of my challenges, what felt right and wrong im my fist pair or two. Then he went back and grabbed a couple more but literally the first pair was amazing and of course I grabbed them. Couldn't have had better service. He deserves a raise!

  Brandon was very helpful when my sister and I was trying to find a nice jacket that would be good for snowboarding, he was very kind and knowledgeable, suggesting multiple recommendations. Thank you Brandon. What a cool dude.

  I am a regular at REI and I'm shop there a lot but I'm not a member. I spent a few grand gearing up for ultralight hiking lately and one of the items I bought early on was a Kelty Sleeping Bag from the Virginia Beach REI. By the time I got everything ready and went camping a few weeks had passed by and I noticed the Kelty Sleeping Bag had a baffle that was entirely devoid of Down. It was just never filled. Anyway, since I misplaced the receipt, neither REI nor Kelty cared, not even a little bit, even though the bag came with a supposed lifetime guarantee. I guess it's only really guaranteed for as long as the receipt lasts...so you're not banking on the quality of the sleeping bag but on the quality of the receipt's printer ink. I feel taken advantage of...

  Like like all the other stores, this place is just great and has wonderful products and variety and inventory. I'm only giving three stars because the staff was kind of indifferent toward me. When you spend a lot of money at a place, You expect a little bit of effort to be nice to your customer. I hope going forward they can make at least minimal effort to smile and be kind to their customers. Overall, though, love these stores!

  I am a longtime and loyal REI customer and have consistently had excellent experiences with both your products and your staff at other locations. Unfortunately, my recent experience at this particular store did not meet the standard of service I have come to expect from REI. The associate working the register during my visit last night was discourteous and unhelpful when I attempted to return a defective item. In my many years shopping with REI, this was only the second time I have ever needed to make a return. Prior to visiting the store, I carefully reviewed REI’s return policy on your website, which I find to be both generous and customer-focused. Based on that policy, I was confident that my return was appropriate, as the item had been used on a single trip and was clearly defective. Rather than assisting with the return, the associate insisted that I purchase a replacement item and declined to process the refund. This approach was frustrating and resulted in a poor overall experience. I want to emphasize that I remain a strong supporter of REI and continue to value the quality of your products. The item itself performed well until it failed, and I recognize that this experience is not reflective of the brand as a whole. While I will continue to shop with REI in the future, I will be avoiding this particular location.v
