  Isabelle in shoes is amazing. She was incredibly helpful and so knowledgeable about the shoes that REI stocks. She was very patient and truly wanted me to get the shoes that were the best for me. If you are looking for shoes at REI Fairfax--ask for Isabelle.

  The Fairfax Corner location has friendly and knowledgeable staff and a broad inventory selection, although the web site does have many more items in stock. At Fairfax, the associates have helped me with sleeping pads, bike shoe recs, and the staff are always friendly/willing to talk. Whether I am buying something last minute, straps for my hammock or voile straps, or more deliberate purchases like a sleeping mat that I will use for years, I have been extremely satisfied with every purchase.

  Brad in the shoe department was amazing and so helpful. My son needed new hiking boots. He was helpful with everything from getting the right boot for his specific foot, teaching him how to properly tie his boots and making sure they were the right fit. Even recommended appropriate socks and a good day hike close by.
