Me and the boys were tossed up on where to go, either back to TNT or try out Legacy. I have heard some very mixed reviews, and I got my answer after visiting. Safe to say I will not be back anytime soon.
First off, we walk in and me and my buddy don’t have bags for our AR’s and we missed the sign that says “all guns need to be in bags” so that is our fault. We then proceeded inside and were met with bags shoved in our faces, and a scolding for “not reading the sign properly” once again that was our fault, but it was all around handled poorly by this one employee we had an issue with all night.
I told my friends we should just leave and head to another range, but they insisted on staying and giving it a shot. If I could I would get my money back.
We then get our waivers signed and pay for a booth, in which this same employee asked if we all had eye and ears. Me and one of my friends did, but one did not have ears. He asked about rentals, and I have never Heard or been to a shooting range (except outdoors) that do not offer rentals of any kind. So just keep this in mind if you don’t want to spend $50 on a brand new set of earpieces. But not a big deal, he needed headphones anyways and grabbed some off the wall.
We chose a premium booth. It felt like a jail cell and way too cramped for even 3 people. I would recommend the regular opened lanes as there is more room.
Second, we started to unholster all of our weapons, and as soon as we started an employee couldn’t even open the door to our booth because it was so small and with all our gear, it made it impossible to move around. Nevertheless, he was extremely nice and asked politely that we keep our guns downrange while unholstering, and which we did. This was the only positive experience I had with an employee during my time.
We did not run into any other confrontations with employees during our shooting, and as soon as we all got everything fitted in like a puzzle, we started to shoot. The only other gripe about the booths is because it is so small, the sound of the guns going off echoes and even with ear protection, I still ended with a mild discomfort.
We packed everything up, and clean up our booth. We walked back to the main lobby area, and mid washing our hands, an employee approached us and asked for the bags back. We explained that we just needed to wash and get everything situated and we would happily give back the bags. One of my friends finished cleaning up, and as soon as he had just started to pick everything up, the employee insisted on escorting him out right then and there. He tried to escort me out as well, and I told him I was waiting for my other buddy who wasn’t done washing his hands while I watched his gear, and he was upset that I said that. My friend finishes cleaning his hands, and we start to walk out. As soon as I saw him I started to take my rifle out to return the bag, and he exclaimed “we NEED to take this outside before taking it out of the bag” and as soon as I got to the door, I took my rifle out. He grabbed the bag and ripped it out of my hands as if I intended to shoplift the rifle bag, and didn’t say anything, and stormed away.
I buy all of my ammo and gear from sportsman’s warehouse, and as soon as I learned legacy was owned by them, I felt extremely disappointed in how they run this gun range. I have already told my family not to visit this range as it is just not worth the money from the small booths and no eye/ear rentals, to the disgruntled employee who just really left a poor impression on legacy.
