After a few days of skiing, I stopped by this location for another wax, but the technician refused, claiming there were small dings that made it unsafe to run the skis through the machine—even though the service would have been under ten minutes. The very next day, I had the same skis waxed at the Solitude ski shop in under five minutes without any problem, so the refusal here felt unnecessary and inconsistent. The in-store experience was just as disappointing. I needed base-layer pants as our trip ended up being longer than planned. I approached an employee who was chatting with a friend about unrelated topics; she noticed me but didn’t offer help for quite some time. When I finally interrupted to ask where to find the item, she seemed annoyed rather than helpful. Throughout the visit, no one checked in, asked if I needed assistance, or even offered basic holiday well wishes. I was shopping with my daughter, and even she commented on how uncaring the atmosphere felt. Overall, the service here was surprisingly poor compared to other REI locations I’ve visited, and it left a very negative impression.
