Construction of the George Albert Smith Field House, which bears the name of the eighth president of the Church, began in 1950. The "fieldhouse" concept allowed physical education and conditioning during all seasons in an indoor environment. Originally the west annex was covered with sawdust. Weekly devotionals and forums, student assemblies, concerts and civic activities, and graduation exercises all occurred here. Today athletes are able to train and condition in the building's state-of-the-art weight training facility; coaches administer their programs from offices here; students and staff lift weights, jog, and do aerobics; and fans still come to cheer on their intercollegiate volleyball and intramural basketball teams.
We love the small venue for attending volleyball games. It's a great way to join in a bit of live action and cheer for the team without dealing with the massive crowds that come from football.
I am a little bit claustrophobic, but we have season tickets in seats next to the entrance stairs. Easy in, easy out! And it's right down the stairs to concessions!!!
Their kettle corn is our favorite and my husband likes the hot dogs too. We rarely wait in a line to either enter or exit.
It's great living within 10 minutes of 2 large universities, a ski resort, bike paths, mountains to hike in with abundant waterfalls, several large grocery stores, and every modern convenience.

Great events held here. The way it’s designed makes the noise echo that much more to get the energy in the room ramped up to the highest level.
