  Bought a Woom bike here. Could have gotten a better deal online, but decided it would be worth the premium to establish the relationship in case I ever needed help with service on the bike. First time that was the case, I found out they have no ability to source parts. So do not assume they can service things they sell in store. As many others have said, at that point there is no reason to pay an REI premium to purchase products they sell rather than shop online.

  If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to walk into a store where people actually want to help you (weird concept, I know), REI is the place. The staff are always ready to jump in—whether you need expert advice or just someone to validate your questionable decision to buy more gear you definitely don’t need. I go in for “one thing” and somehow leave mentally planning a full expedition into the wilderness. The selection is so good it convinces you you’re one jacket away from climbing a mountain… even if your biggest hike lately has been to the fridge. Great people, great gear, and a dangerous place for your wallet—but in the best way possible.

  Made my first visit here today to purchase new running shoes. I found a pair of Brooks on clearance in my size on the display wall. I asked the employee if I could get them, and he said yes and that he needed to find them on a display. He came back with the shoes in an entirely different color, which wasn’t what I wanted. I asked if I could purchase the ones on the wall as they were the right color and size, and was told no, and he walked away. I asked at the checkout if they were able to sell display shoes and the lady said she yes, I mentioned what happened and she just said oh, ok, and continued ringing my friend who I was there with out. No mention of asking anyone else or helping me get them. I checked online to get what the exact color was so I could see about ordering elsewhere, and noticed I could make an order on their site to pick up at exact shoes they told me I couldn’t buy this afternoon at their store. Needless to say my first impression was awfully poor and I will not be coming back.
