My overall experience was actually not great. The only reason I’m giving a 5 star review is because of Riley. He helped me in the camping department. I had ordered a hest dually long mattress and the one I picked up from the Lynwood location was the wrong size. I returned it to the south lake union location because I live closer to that location. I told customer service I don’t want a refund I just want the correct sleeping mat I had ordered. They proceed to give me the refund and send me to the camping department where I eventually had Riley to help me out. Out of all the employees he was the one who kept me from losing my shit. As for the majority of young workers at REI I suggest you take a look at Riley for customer service because that’s how it’s done.

Not my own experience but my wife and father in law went to pick up a new bike that he purchased online. The website stated the bike would be ready after 4:25pm. With the racks installed. They arrived and the bike had not been started and it wound up taking until 6:30p.m. There is a complete disconnect between the website and the service team and literally having no estimation on the website and getting a phone/email directly from the store would have resolved the issue.

This message is for both the Ranger Station management as well as the regional manager of this REI store. For the past 5 years it has been a nightmare, an absolute nightmare to come into your store and get a national parks pass. Here's why! Every year I am told a different story. Sometimes I go to your store right when they open and I'm told I can only get the pass at the ranger station so I literally have to stand there for 1 hour waiting for them to arrive since they have different hours! Sheesh. Whereas some years the REI manager will happily tell me that I can just go to the regular front desk and that they have the passes there. Well guess what? Today they ran out of passes! So I am back again to waiting patiently for 1 hour at the ranger station. My advice to management is this! 1) Drastically change your inventory and stock in having Parks passes available OR 2) change the access rules of Staff members being able to ring up passes at the ranger station because it's unfortunate that the passes are here but they cannot open the darn drawer! I know what you're going to say that REI is a different entity than the ranger station but due to my 5 years experience of getting different answers there absolutely has to be some sort of change whether it's in the hours they work or the amount of passes that the whole store contains or the access to passes at ranger stations even if it means staff can ring it up on their system. I know I'm not the only one who had this experience because there was even a lady standing behind me just now who looked at the sign in when they open compared to when the store is open and she even expressed her disappointment as well. The only good thing is that the manager with the long hair, the Ranger lady, and the young guy were all nice. But not the lady with the glasses and hair scarf decoration (she was dismissive and defenseive). Not nice!

Awesome store with huge selection, helpful staff, and beautiful surroundings. A little on the pricey side, but if you are a member you get 10% back - and it's just a one time expense. Street parking is easy in the evening, and after 6pm it's free.

With absolute jaw dropping size and an incredible selection REI in Seattle is a must see for any travelers or locals looking for outdoors or adventure clothing and gear. I was able to find a much needed warm coat for my girlfriend as well as a 2l water pouch for my hiking trip to Rainer this weekend!
