  I love coming here, I’ve bought most of my climbing gear from this location and every time I come in the employees are always really nice. Lately I’ve been sending all my orders to the store just to give me an excuse to go in.

  Had been riding my bike around all morning and the rear wheel was making an annoying sound. Stopped by and they fixed it within 20 minutes and I was back on the road.

  Always a great experience, the staff is always helpful and I love their rewards program. I have bought a lot of things from this location and others during my travels, I recommend to sign up for their Co-Op membership program, due to their return program and discounts it’s amazing, and you get money back every year towards products which is amazing. The Coros Pace 4 and Garmin Vivoactive 6 are great watches for beginners. I have used their Patagonia diamond quilt jacket and I love it. Keeps me warm during late season hunting. All kinds of cool gear. I got $7 REI running shorts in the discount rack that I used for my ultra run. Great stuff. Couldn’t recommend more.

  This REI in Kennewick is a very nice single-story store with a layout that makes sense the moment you walk in. Camping is immediately off to the right, and they have a large tent display set up so you can actually walk through and compare options instead of staring at boxes. Straight ahead is a good selection of camping gear, stoves, cookware, and backpacking equipment. The climbing section sits slightly right of center and has a solid selection of ropes, hardware, and climbing gear. As the author of The Most Crucial Knots to Know, I always find myself checking out the rope and climbing sections no matter what I originally came in to buy. The back right portion of the store has a sizable bike sales and repair area, while the left side is devoted primarily to clothing. Men’s clothing is toward the front and middle left, with women’s apparel farther back. As the author of The Motivated Amateur’s Guide to Winter Camping, I appreciate stores that let you see and handle equipment before buying it. There’s a big difference between reading specifications online and actually putting your hands on a stove, sleeping bag, or tent. The store was clean, organized, and easy to browse. The fitting rooms and restrooms were also very clean, and the staff was super nice during my visit. Funny enough, after years of writing The Grant Colson Thriller Series, outdoor stores like this still spark ideas. Every aisle looks like somebody is either preparing for an expedition, a climbing trip, or the beginning of an adventure. I ended up buying a few shirts, but as usual I spent more time looking at gear than I planned.
