Everything was perfect from registering online, to watching the safety video, the easy to navigate online forms, the facility is absolutely one of the best, the instructor was friendly and knowledgeable, and the lady at the check-in and checkout counter was very professional, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. It is very conveniently located and I highly recommend the Range in McKinney.

Beginners & returning shooters BEWARE!!! I am in my 30’s and I have been going to gun ranges since I was 12 years old, and I have never had such a disappointing range experience in my life. I was attending a free range day with U.S. Law Shield yesterday. It has been a few years since I shot at the range. I brought my boyfriend with me, so we could make it a date. It sucks that The Range in McKinney was his first range experience. I have so much respect for firearms and I understand fully how dangerous they can be. I can completely understand the staff having strict rules. However, the staff was mean, aggressive, condescending, and made us feel so uncomfortable. At first I thought it was just good ole fashion Texas racism, but from the reviews this place clearly enjoys mistreating their customers. We start at the counter to get our paper targets and the lady at the desk is telling us the rules stating, “You MUST have our protective gear on at all times in MY range.” Me and my boyfriend rolled our eyes and laughed off how over the top she was being and went to our lane. We walk in and there’s a heavier set white guy inside. We were the only ones inside the lane area at this time, so it was really awkward and uncomfortable. He never spoke to us or told us that he was there to help us. He just stood there staring at us like a prison guard. I started showing my boyfriend how to operate and handle the firearm. I told my boyfriend to always treat the firearm as if it’s loaded and I was pointing it to the ground. He heavy set dude stops us and asks if it’s our first time shooting, I told him I was experienced, but a little rusty and this was my boyfriends first time. He goes on to tell me that I pointed the firearm at my boyfriend and that, “I should know better.” Then he went on to say that if I did that again he would kick us out of the range. I don’t recall pointing my firearm towards my boyfriend. However, I am a woman who owns up to her mistakes. So, maybe when I was holding it down I accidentally turned it towards my boyfriend’s foot or something. Got it. Sorry. However, this behavior from the staff was completely uncalled for! The condescending remarks and scolding me like I’m a child was completely unnecessary. My boyfriend and I felt so unsafe, nervous, and disgusted with the treatment we received from the staff. Then, when I turned around and asked him if we were allowed to rapid fire his response was, “ If you can handle it, sure.” A sample “Yes” would have sufficed. The ONLY reason we decided to stay was because they switched out the heavy set dude for a kind of nerdy looking white guy and he was super kind and helpful. He gave me a refresher and helped my boyfriend become more comfortable and confident with handling the firearm. He talked a lot, but a least he was kind. My message to The Range in McKinney is you do not have to be unkind to set strict boundaries in your range. Making people feel uncomfortable while handling firearms is CRAZY! If there are strict policies, they should be clearly explained upfront before entering the lane area. U.S. Law Shield invited us to come back for another free range day soon and I would love to take advantage of my membership perks. However, this range has made me and my boyfriend feel so uncomfortable and so unwelcome that I don’t think I will ever be able to come back. That really sucks. P.S. I will be emailing U.S. Law Shield and informing them about my experience.

Really appreciate The Range for opening their doors to members of the community and giving local residents a place to participate peacefully in the civic process. It means a lot when a local business is willing to be welcoming and make space for people to have their voices heard, even when an issue may be contentious. That kind of generosity and community spirit deserves recognition. Thank you, The Range!

My wife and I enrolled in the LTC course with the expectation of a lengthy and arduous experience. However, Michael, our instructor, facilitated an engaging, enjoyable, and well-paced learning environment. What was anticipated to be a six-hour course felt considerably shorter, approximately two hours, due to the interactive nature of the instruction. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The entire staff demonstrated exceptional hospitality and friendliness, and we particularly appreciated the owner's personal interaction with us. I highly recommend this firearms range to all.

We had an awesome time at the range today it was our first time there and we went for my boyfriend’s birthday. It was a group of four of us! Tom helped me schedule everything online and helped answer all of my questions and then Michelle helped us out at the front desk and then Matt guided us through the entire thing. Matt was an awesome help guiding us in every way! We did an hour indoor range and we did an hour simulator. Great experience and will be back!
