After two years of membership and more than 30 outings, I can easily say that joining Nautical Boat Club has been one of the best lifestyle decisions our family has made.
Surprisingly, the biggest reason isn't the boats.
It's the people.
From our very first visit, the team has made us feel like members of a club instead of customers renting a boat.
Luke Smith sets the standard. He's one of those rare people who seems genuinely excited to help every member. He's incredibly hospitable, proactive, and always looking for ways to make your day on the water even better. You can tell he takes pride in creating an exceptional experience, and that attitude spreads throughout the team.
Isla is equally amazing. She's always welcoming, attentive, and consistently makes us feel appreciated. Every interaction with her reminds us why great customer service still matters.
I also want to recognize Will Johnson, who introduced us to Nautical Boat Club back in July 2023. He patiently answered every question, took us on a tour of J. Percy Priest Lake during our very first reservation, and made us feel like we belonged before we ever became members. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality were a huge reason we joined. Looking back, he was the original Luke Smith for our family.
Brandon, Grayson, Kate, Ben, and Sean have all been fantastic as well. The same goes for the team at Elm Hill Marina. Don has built a culture of professionalism and hospitality, and Dallas, Kenneth, Tanner, Langdon, and Braxton have all made every visit enjoyable.
The people are what keep us coming back.
The boats are what make every trip unforgettable.
Most of our outings have been on Percy Priest Lake, but we've also enjoyed Center Hill and Tim's Ford. Having access to a fleet of newer boats without any of the responsibilities of ownership has completely changed how often we get on the water.
Instead of a monthly payment, insurance, maintenance, winterization, storage, trailer expenses, launching, loading, cleaning, trailering a boat through Nashville traffic, and trying to keep the HOA from noticing it in the driveway, we simply reserve a boat, show up, enjoy the day, and hand back the keys.
Because none of those stressors exist, we actually spend far more time on the water than we ever did when we owned our own boat. People joke that the two happiest days of boat ownership are the day you buy it and the day you sell it. With Nautical Boat Club, it feels like every reservation is one of those happy days.
We get all of the fun, with almost none of the hassle.
The reservation system is fantastic. I usually reserve boats from my phone, and it only takes a couple of minutes. They also provide far more than just boats. Life jackets, ski vests, skis, wakeboards, kneeboards, wakesurf boards, towable tubes, ice, fruit trays, charcuterie boards, decorations for special occasions... they've thought through the entire experience.
One of the most underrated benefits is peace of mind. If a mechanical issue ever occurs, they don't leave you stranded. They come get you and, whenever possible, put you on another boat so your day can continue.
For our family, Nautical Boat Club has given us something that's difficult to put a price on: more time together on the water and fewer weekends maintaining a boat.
Finally, thank you to the Kiser family for bringing Nautical Boat Club to Nashville. You didn't just create a boat club. You created a place where families can slow down, reconnect, and make memories that will last long after the boats are back at the dock.
Five stars without hesitation.
Here's to many more summers, many more sunsets, and many more memories on the water.
