About

Golf Course
Designed by three-time Masters and British Open Championship Winner Gary Player, is a par 72 course that has been popular since the sunny day it opened back in 1972. The front nine hugs the valley floor while the back nine offers a challenging mountain course. A beautiful sparkling mountain stream meanders throughout the entire course making for a breathtaking contrast between water and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Great experience. Course is well maintained with friendly staff. Would definitely play this course again. Mountain View’s were stunning.

Had a great time playing but we have a few points that could be addressed. It took us 5 hours to play 18 holes on a Wednesday morning. 8 minute tee times and allowing 5somes seem to be the reason. We were at the tee box 10 minutes early and didn’t tee off until 10 minutes after our time. I understand 8 minute times on a small municipal course but this place should have 15 minute times.

Horrible! No one keeps pace of play. They let a 5some go out (hacks) who wouldn't let anyone play through. Took an hour to get through 3 holes as a single, I quit on the 4th. Now, for the course, Gary Player would be ashamed!!!! The greens are so mismanaged and terrible. Like putting through a smoothed over pasture! Waste of money!!!!!

This was our second visit. We were here in October and enjoyed this course. The views were amazing and the people were super nice and welcoming. We are back in town and stopped in today to see if they had any open tee times. If they didn’t today, we planned to book one for another day. The man at the pro shop had zero interest in us golfing there. He told us me he didn’t have any carts available, didn’t know when golfers would be back and said he didn’t know when their next open tee time was. I’ve never felt so out of place at a place I’ve been to before and enjoyed. At this point he was done with our conversation so asking to book a future tee time was clearly out of the question. My wife and I are bummed. It sucks to have to cross this course off our list for future trips.

Bent Creek's one of those quirky layouts you find now and then - utterly different between the front and back nines. The flat front could lull you to sleep, but but undulating back will wake you right up. Unfortunately, this course suffers from - I'm assuming - a lack of funds for proper maintenance. The back nine layout, especially. The trees have been allowed to overgrow the holes in many places, severely narrowing the driving alleys to a few yards, and shading the turf (a few fairways were dirt, and one tee box is played from mats). Yeah, it's expensive to keep trees trimmed, but it's ruining the back nine. For a first-timer, the hole descriptions on the course book are totally inadequate - one says, "Don't be long!" but gives you no idea how long "long" is. And 8 minute tee times on a course that's priced to attract the "hey, let's try golf!" crowd (we saw numerous first-timers when we played including the one in front of us that whiffed three times on one tee) is a stretch - we teed off 10 minutes late and waited on every. single. shot. If we return to the area we'll play it again - because it's very close to where we stayed, and it's cheap - but those are the only reasons.
