- HSHoward StensonAug 23, 20263.0I went to REI and wanted them to update some things like my wraps on my handle bars and check my chain and etc. They looked over my bike and said I needed some new tires as well as brakes and my balance went from let’s say $120 to $400 estimate. I informed the person I was speaking with that I would like the things I bought it in for fixed 1st and I’ll come back in about 2 weeks for the remaining things and I was informed that they couldn’t fix what I wanted without fixing and updating everything because of safety and they would be held responsible if anything happened to me. I’m a grown individual and I believe I know what I need fixed as well as when I would like it fixed. I’ve never heard of anyone having their bike worked and held a bike shop responsible for having an accident. I could have had it fixed but I didn’t like him giving me an ultimatum fix it all or nothing. So I came and got my bike and will be taking it somewhere else. I’ve been a member for years and this is the 1st time I’ve been told this. Very disappointed with REI!
