I would give zero stars if possible. Booked a tee time for 730. We have a family golf league and chose Valor Bluffs for our final game. Traveled an hour and booked an Air BnB. We showed up at 715 to check in and were told we couldn’t play. There had been about 30 minutes of rain and “the cups were full of water “. They said they didn’t have our info to let us know, which isn’t true. We had received an email from them earlier that day. Also, the website had nothing posted about closing. We’ve played here twice before and had great service, however, the course wasn’t busy at all. Seems like turning away customers isn’t the best way to run a business. Not sure this place is going to make it. We won’t be back and won’t recommend to others. Hope management checks reviews!

We had tee times for my family today at 7:30. We drove in from St. Louis and got an AirBnB for a round of night golf. When we got to the course we were told the course was closed due to 30 minutes of rain (in a drought). The bartender said they reached out to all the people with tee times, but did not have our number. The evening tee times were completely open. The worker said the cups had water in them and were not playable. I’ve played a lot of golf in my life, but never heard this one before. I’m sure we were the only group with tee times tonight and they did not want to stay open for us. Bad business with bad management. I will be sure to pass along this information to anyone asking about Valor Bluffs. Not worth the time or the drive.

We played 9 holes at Valor Bluffs last night. We used to play here when it was Pallo’s, and they’ve definitely put a lot of work into fixing the place up. You can tell they’re going for more of a fun/social golf experience, which is totally fine, and I think the place has a lot of potential.
The actual course still needs quite a bit of work though. The greens were REALLY rough—to the point that you couldn’t realistically putt on them. There also weren’t any yardage signs. We had a range finder so it wasn’t a huge deal for us, but still a little annoying and would definitely make it difficult for someone who didn’t have one.
The bunkers were also filled with a really coarse, dark sand with quite a few small rocks mixed in. I’d honestly be hesitant to hit a nice wedge out of it because I’d be worried about scratching or damaging the club.
At $29 per person for 9 holes, it felt pretty steep for the current course conditions. I like what they’re trying to do with the place and hope they keep improving it, but at that price I’d expect the actual golf conditions—especially the greens—to be quite a bit better.
However, if you’re going for more of a social event rather than golf, this place is very cool. Everyone was super nice and friendly. I know they were having a hard time finding a superintendent so that might be why it’s in rough shape right now and hopefully with time they will sort out the conditions.
We will still go back as it’s fun for date night but it’s not for serious golf anymore, which is okay—there are plenty of golf courses around, and not a ton on fun places like this.
We liked to play real golf here because it is a night par 3 course so we could play after work since there are lights. We used to play league at pallos and we loved it. But now it’s just a different vibe which is cool too! We don’t drink so we didn’t checkout the bar area but everything looked really nice!
So I’m giving it 4 stars based on social event but for golf I would currently give it 3 stars just because of the conditions, but I have faith those will be improved!
