  This review is for Bike shop. As a loyal REI shopper since 2013, my recent bike purchase was the worst customer service I've ever experienced. First, a dismissive store employee refused to honor online support's confirmation that my bike was ready, delaying my pickup by three days and forcing me to cancel a planned trip. When I finally went to the store, I was abandoned mid-service for half an hour just waiting for an employee to take the front wheel off so I could fit the bike in my car. To make matters worse, the shop over-torqued the pedals so severely during assembly that I can't swap them out at home, even with a power tool. I am incredibly frustrated and would return the bike right now, but I live far away and have to borrow a car just to transport it. I might still return it cause I don't even want to see the face of people in that bike shop. REI lost a customer today.

  This is an immoral and socially irresponsible company who manipulates their customers. The clerk convinced me to spend $30 on membership even though I told her I never shopped there with a $30 bonus card which expired in 2 months which I couldn’t use the same day. Of course I forgot and I’m out $30 on a membership I will never use. Shameful.

  Recently purchased a co op bike for my daughter and then received an email stating that it would be ready June 4 Thursday. I called June 4th to find the store was backed up because of the Memorial Day sale. That’s fine but the person I talked to said I would receive a second email when the order was ready. On the following Tuesday I receive a “second email” telling me that my order is waiting to be picked up. Both emails attached. Upon receiving the second email I ignorantly drove to the store 45 minutes from my home to find out the order isn’t ready and would have to come back. The store manager then asked me what I thought would be fair “appeasement” which put me in the awkward position of trying to to make me decide what was reasonable. I felt that having to come to the store twice (1.5 hrs each way) and not being able to ride with my daughter upon returning from a trip in which I specifically told her I was returning with a bike would perhaps get more than making me be put in that position. A simple 20-30% off my next future order would be a reasonable “appeasement. Instead the manager offers 10% off the item I already purchased. The amount not covering the gas to get to the store, not to mention the time taken out of my day after receiving an email telling me that my order was waiting. When I laughed at the 10% being a ridiculous way to rectify the situation he claimed the store wouldn’t make money if he offered more. Not quite sure the manager needs to worry about the store making money if they can’t fulfill orders within corporate guidelines.

  I really enjoy stopping by here whenever I am planning a new outdoor adventure. The gear selection is top-notch, and I always feel confident that I am getting high-quality equipment that will hold up on the trail. The staff are clearly passionate about what they do and are always willing to share their own experiences or offer advice on which gear will work best for my specific plans. It is a bit on the pricier side, but for the reliability and the expertise you get, it is usually worth the investment.
