- AAagrella ascorcioJun 6, 20261.0I interacted with the rudest cashier I’ve ever encountered yesterday at REI. I waited in the long line and it was finally my turn. I walked up the to register and the cashier was on his phone. I placed my two items on the counter and flipped the barcodes up so they would be easy for him to scan. After a few moments he sternly said “how can I help you?” … I have two items, waited in line, and am now at a cash register .. what do you mean how can you help me? It was so strange. He scanned my items and asked my for my phone number for the membership. I gave him the first three digit is and he just stood there staring at me. Then he said “okayyyy 301 …” then I finished sharing the number and he quickly typed it in, only after he had all the digits. Sorry you are asking me why I am at a cash register at a retail store, staring at my when I am giving you my phone number, it’s fair that I am confused and trying to give some wait time to an employee who is clearly bothered by my presence, preoccupied with his cell phone, and taking out his frustration on someone who was just trying to buy a pair of $25 socks… Unreal experience… next time I’ll go to llbean across the street where their staff are friendly
