  I would like to give a huge shout out to Katharine who helped me process a return of some bouldering shoes! They were lightly used but when putting them through the trade-in process, it was only a small fraction of the original price. But Katharine went out of her way to provide me with a proper return that justified the value of the shoes and left me grateful as a member of REI. I am truly grateful for the customer service she gave me and went above and beyond to help me out. Thanks REI for having a great person to have on team that’ll make a customer happy!

  Good run/hike shoe and cycling gear selection. Tons of backpacks... but watches (only garmin and coros) and outdoor water sport selection is very limited.

  Have taken my bikes to the shop a few times now and have been really happy with the service. Everyone has been great to work with and they're doing a good job on the repairs and upgrades.

  I’m giving my experience 2 stars, and the only reason it’s not 1 is because Alex, the cashier, was very kind and attentive. She was the only associate who noticed I had been waiting in line for a few minutes and made sure to help me. I came in to return a pair of climbing shoes that had never been worn. I’m a non-member and understand REI’s 90-day return policy. I had actually called the store the day before to ask if an exception might be possible since the shoes were completely unused. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it in until today, exactly 93 days after the purchase. Once I arrived I was told that a manager would have to come and assess the shoes to make a decision about the return. When I explained the situation to him, his response was, “You had 90 days. Why didn’t you come in?” I told him that life had been difficult, and he responded, “Well… so is everyone else’s.” I found that response incredibly condescending and inappropriate. I completely understand that I was three days outside the return window, and I wasn’t demanding an exception. I was simply asking if anything could be done. He ultimately processed the return but repeatedly framed it as him “doing me a favor” and went on to explain that members have a year to return items. After this interaction, I have no interest in becoming a member. You never know what someone may be going through, and I don’t think a customer should have to explain or defend their personal circumstances to receive basic courtesy. I understand the policy; my issue is with how the situation was handled. Alex was wonderful, and I really appreciated their kindness. Unfortunately, the manager’s behavior overshadowed the experience.
