I normally don’t leave reviews, but I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay at Hollywood Casino & Hotel Lawrenceburg.
The hotel advertises “Blockbuster Accommodations” on its website, promising comfort, style, and convenience. What we experienced was the opposite:
The front desk staff was cold and had zero personality — we were not made to feel welcome at all.
The streaming live TV channels didn’t work when we arrived or when we went to bed. They only started working the next morning.
The bathtub/shower drain was badly clogged, leaving us standing in dirty water every time we showered.
Most disturbing: there were visible blood smears on the blackout window shade (photo attached). This is completely unacceptable and unhygienic.
On top of everything, we were hit with an extra $61.19 amenity fee (on a $145.59 room rate) for supposed perks we didn’t benefit from.
This was not the quality I expect from a Hollywood Casino property. There are much better options nearby, and I will not be staying here again.

Everything was good until we got ready to leave 7/2. My husband Joseph talked to one of the Cashiers about free play and points. She told him he had $105 in freeplay. He went to a machine to play and could not find it. He talked to Dealer at Black Jack table. He said it's only on Slots. He pushed the assistance button on the slot machine. A lady came to help us. She asked around and told us that we had 75.00 one trip that we did not know about and 75.00 another trip. Both had already expired. He was very dissapointed. Left on a bad note. His card number is 1X107240997. Could you check into this and see that your staff is more aware of how this works. Thank you for your time. My husband Plays Black Jack, Main reason for our visits. There is nowhere near where we live to play card tables.

We decided to stay here since we had comp nights available and it was very close to the Creation museum.
The hotel is older but that is why it has charm. It has lovely colors inside and vintage looking decor.
Upon checking in, the young girl sitting at the front desk, didn’t seem to want to be bothered with having to work. If you are in customer service and working a hotel front desk, greet your customers with a smile.
The room itself was nice and the bed was comfortable but needed a little more attention to cleaning detail. Like the spot on the rug right next to the bed a guest obviously spilled something and stained the carpet, but it didn’t even look like anyone tried to get it out of the carpet. The rim around the lamp was full of dust. A big perk of the room is that the windows open a little bit and you can allow fresh air in your room but the windows and railings were dirty and full of cobwebs. The hotel really could use a good power washing of the railings and a window cleaner.
The casino does allow smoking. We did not know that and if we had, we probably would not have gone. But we are glad we did because it wasn’t bad. You could still smell smoke a bit but they definitely have the air ventilation system working to try to keep the air filtered because it was very cold inside.
I went to the one sports restaurant that was open about 45 minutes before they closed. I walked in at the same time as another couple. I was seated and when the waitress came over, you could tell she was in a rush. I told her I was waiting for my husband, and I didn’t know what he was going to want to drink. She said ok she will be back. Her second trip asked if he was coming and I told her yes he is walking this way. She had an attitude and I told he was the only one ordering food and just a burger. As she was walking away again while talking she said well I just want to make sure he gets here before we close and he can’t get in. They weren’t closing for a half hour but I told her I would go ahead and order for him. She was very rude, and short with me, as I just ordered a burger for my husband so she could relax. But after taking my order she proceeded to walk away talking with an attitude. So I got up, told her to keep the burger with her attitude and I walked out.
Starting with a front desk girl that wasn’t happy and ending a waitress with an attitude. Along with having to deal with smoke and freezing in the casino. I don’t think I will be back to this location.

In a word, awful. Hotel service desk was extremely rude telling us we booked a smoking room, even though I showed my emailed confirmation and it did not show that, we are NOT smokers. They would not consider switching us to a non-smoking stating it was not allowed. Ridiculous!! They were not crowded at all. No money is being returned to updating hotel that’s for sure. Entrance is extremely unkept and the room is worse. Casino was cleaner and we ate in the “deli” and the food was good. Unless you love trains don’t book here, the hotel sits on the track. When it comes to staying here, in a word, DONT.

I stayed at Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg for a work conference and booked this hotel only because the nearby DoubleTree was sold out. Although I understand that some exposure to smoke is common at a casino property, I specifically reserved and paid for a non-smoking room.
When I arrived around 10:00 PM, I was told that no non-smoking rooms were available and that a smoking room was my only option. Had I been informed in advance, I could have made alternative arrangements through my employer’s booking system. Instead, I was offered only a room spray and the possibility of moving rooms the next day, with no guarantee that a non-smoking room would become available. Despite not receiving the room type I reserved, I was charged the full room rate.
The check-in experience was frustrating because the hotel did not notify me before arrival that it could not honor my reservation. By the time I checked in late at night, there were no practical alternatives available.
The room itself did little to improve the situation. The smoke odor and residue were noticeable, and as someone with significant seasonal allergies, they aggravated my symptoms. Only one window could be opened, and even then a constant ringing noise, combined with the storm outside, made it difficult to relax or sleep.
Overall, the inability to provide the reserved room type significantly affected my stay. What should have been a straightforward overnight business trip became uncomfortable and disruptive. Travelers who are sensitive to smoke or who specifically book non-smoking accommodations should be aware that such reservations may not always be honored. In hindsight, I would have been better off staying closer to the airport and commuting to the conference.
