… man where do I start. Bought a new bike not to long ago off market place. Did most of the work myself as far as bolt checks and tuneup. (I’m pretty mechanically inclined being an auto tech for 5 years) anyways there were 2 slight issues I brought my bike in for. The first issue being that the front tire was installed backwards. I asked them if they could flip the front tire for me. The bike has Cush cores in the tire and the first the thing the guy says to me is “it’s kind of concerning you said you did some service and the front tires on backwards” which I found to be a wild sentence from someone I’m bringing my business to. Also I wasn’t the one that mounted the front tire….. so from the start I’m already getting attitude. I explain the situation and tell him it’s a tubeless setup with Cush cores. He then tries to “test” my knowledge? Or something on the lines of that by saying “why are you running both?” I looked at him dumb founded and said “do you know what a Cush core is?” He responds with “no” so then I go into explaining to him what a Cush core is and how it’s not possible to run a conventional Cush core with a tube setup….. so here I am trying to bring my bike in for the front tire to be flipped. And a slight brake adjustment as the rear rotor was rubbing on pads. And what did I get? Some sour old dude trying to test me on my own bike with a system he doesn’t know or understand…. Then when I tell him how it works politely. He walks away… insane to be acting like that as a grown man. Anyways. Against my better judgement I left the bike anyways to get the work carried out. About 5 days passed and I got a text that my bike was ready for pickup. I went to pick it up kind of in a hurry due to other priority’s that day so was not able to fully inspect the bike upon pickup. When I got the bike home I noticed that the front tire was still on the same (wrong direction) and my rear brakes are still rubbing the same amount as when I brought it in. Looking at the repair order they charged me for a “tub less refresh” and a “brake adjustment” so after him being completely rude to me. TRYING TO CALL ME OUT FOR THE TIRE BEING BACKWARDS!!! Even tho I didn’t do it. Trying to test me about products they don’t understand… they then proceeded to pop my bead still see my tires backwards…fill it with new sealant…. And that’s it… tires still mounted backwards… the only thing I asked to be done and they couldn’t do it. Along with selling me a brake adjustment and my brake still rubbing… I guess this place is more worried about testing your knowledge then listening to what your saying and asking for service wise. I’d say if you are any sort of mechanically inclined stay far far away from this place and just figure it out on your own!!!! Most of it’s not that difficult of work I just thought I’d save myself some time but here I am again proving that if you want anything done and done right you have to do it yourself…

This is a nice store with a lot of nice things for outdoor adventuring and recreation. The vast majority of it is out of my comfortable spending range, but I find a couple sale priced shirts to buy. I was told by the staff that, as a non-member, I have 90 days to decide whether I'm satisfied and return items I'm not happy with, so that's nice.
The store was hard to find with Google Maps. The pin for the store was st the entrance to the large shopping complex, not at the store itself. I called the store for assistance and they helped me find it.

First time at an REI because we needed some hiking gear and an America the Beautiful pass. The store appeared clean, but lacked some inventory in the shoe department. That was disappointing to me. I felt our experience really went downhill at checkout. The cashier seemed disorganized and confused. She rang up one of our purchases at full price when it was supposed to be 40%. She lost her phone to check with the shoe employees and didn't believe us. She was not rude but lacked competence. In addition , her computer and printer were not working. Eventually she did correct the discounted price. What should have been a quick checkout of three items ended up being a 15 min plus checkout. Plus there are no bags to carry your items home. I wish there was a store closer to us because we had to drive quite far and had a pretty disappointing experience. There were far more employees in this store than customers so I would have thought they would all be properly trained on sale items especialy the cashiers. Overall disappointing and inefficient experience as a first time customer here.

Why would I give this store 2 stars? It was clean. It was well stocked with great gear. The reason I give it 2 stars is maybe because I come from Colorado, and every single REI I go to in Colorado has welcoming employees. They say hello when you walk in. In the Colorado stores I have at least 3 employees per visit ask if I need assistance. This store had employees standing around talking to each other, and no one working the floor. I have never been in the shoe section in the other REIs without someone coming up and asking if I need to try on shoes. No one was around when I looked for someone. Bottom line is this store should take a lesson from their Colorado store cousins and really work on their customer service.
