  Beautiful, quiet, and peaceful small campground surrounded by woods. The place was very clean, and we loved the trails and the nature center. The staff are wonderful, and Torshika was an awesome host who met us and made us feel right at home! My only critique is the online booking process. When you receive your permit back, the State Forest head office address is the one shown on the document. It would be much more helpful if the actual campground address was listed on the permit and clearly highlighted in the email confirmation. We mistakenly drove to the head office address first and found out later that other people have made the same mistake, or ended up at Shabbona Lake State Park instead. Please do your staff a favour and put the correct campground address on the permit so they don't have to handle frustrated phone calls from people trying to find the park or their sites!

  Great camping given the close proximity to Chicago. Excellent bathrooms and friendly staff. Close to grocery store and easy to find.
