  I want everyone to know how professional and personal Robby the owner of Bike&Hike is!! I bought my Trek Rail E-bike back in April of 2023. I had it serviced the following year there and have had zero trouble with it till now. It has just over 900 miles on it and had not been on a trail for well over a year when I got it out to start enjoying it again. We were simply tooling around town when all of a sudden we heard clank/slip/catch, nothing no longer grabbing when spinning the peddles. We trouble shot best we could. I called Bike& Hike the next morning and explained to Tad the mechanic what I was fearing might be wrong with the bike and had checked and it was out of warranty. He passed the message on to Robby and he let me know that “he is like a doctor” and I would need to bring the bike in for a diagnosis and we will go from there. I am located a 2 hour drive from the store in Effingham and I assumed I would be leaving the bike for a while. When I got there Robby immediately diagnosed the bike and discovered the issue quickly. He and Tad were able to get it fixed and a couple other tune up services taken care of that same day. I was elated to be taking home a new again bike in such an efficient timeline. I share because from the time I called, to celebrating bringing it home good as new again. I felt peace with the phone call as well as the personal service! I will gladly make the drive for this level of service!! You are in good hands here with Robby and Tad!

  I wish they can be more transparent about the price of service instead of asking whether you want to adjust this and that without telling you how much, then charge you labor fee here and there. For example, my brake was pointed out to be a bit loose, but it is not affecting me that much, but since he offer I said yes, it turns out to be $40. It felt like a scam and I know this is not one bike shop problem, it happens to lots of bike shop I have visited, which makes me feel disappointed about the sport.
