  If you’re a serious golfer, book your tee time somewhere else. Course had the kind of name that suggests a bit of luxury and a premium experience, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to it. Only one course was open, so all tee times were squeezed onto a single layout, which made play feel crowded the entire round groups constantly stacked up and waiting on every hole. The pace and spacing were poorly managed, and it took away from any sense of a relaxed round. The hospitality was essentially nonexistent. The cart attendant came across as rude when we asked simple questions, as if we were inconveniencing him rather than being paying guests. There was also no cart service out on the course, which was surprising given the volume of players. Conditions were also disappointing. After about eight holes we only came across one portable restroom trailer, which felt inadequate for how busy it was. The greens and fairways were not in great shape either more yellow and patchy than lush or well maintained, which is unexpected for a course presenting itself as “royal” or upscale. The views are better at other courses. Overall, it felt overcrowded, under supported, and poorly maintained, which made for a frustrating experience rather than an enjoyable round.

  Royal Kaanapali was just a short walk from my hotel at Kaanapali beach, the course was in great condition and not a typical beach side course. The course takes you up the mountain and has great views of the ocean and fun shots!

  Kai was great well worth it especially if you want the island vibe and not pay premium price.

  I was on Maui for two weeks in April of 2026 and played golf at several courses during my visit. The Royal Ka’anapali Course was my favorite! The staff there was very friendly and made us feel like we were their number one priority. The starter showed us how the GPS system worked on the golf course and filled us in on things to make our round much easier. I loved the fact that they provided us with ice and water and also provided a moist towel to be able to clean the face of your club. We felt like we were the only golfers on the course and it was the most relaxed round of golf I’ve ever played. The fairways were in awesome shape and the sand traps were in amazing shape! Whoever manages their golf operations is doing an incredible job!!! Thank you for making the round so special!!! Bob S. from Yampa, Colorado.
