me and my friend came in for a lead climbing class. our instructor name was K. honestly couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. he made everything feel really comfortable and easy to follow, and explained everything so well without making it feel overwhelming. you can tell he actually cares about making sure you understand everything and feel confident doing it on your own. he was super patient, answered all of our questions, and made the whole class really fun. he can throw a figure 8! pretty cool!! definitely one of the best teachers i’ve had at a climbing gym. highly recommend taking a class with K if you get the chance!!

My friend and I took a lead climbing class today at Central Rock Gym, and we had the absolute pleasure of being taught by K. He was phenomenal. K went above and beyond from start to finish. He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and He explained everything in a way without it feel rushed or overwhelmed. He was also fantastic at recognizing when we needed a little extra explanation or guidance and adjusted his teaching accordingly. Most importantly he made sure we felt safe. You can tell that K genuinely cares about teaching and wants people to leave the class feeling confident, capable, and excited to climb. He created such a positive learning environment, and his attention to detail made us feel safeHonestly, K was one of the best instructors I’ve ever had for anything. ( K supremacy) Central Rock Gym is incredibly lucky to have someone like K on their team. If you’re considering taking a class, I genuinely cannot recommend him enough. Ask for K—you won’t regret it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The physical gym facility is excellent, and the staff members are consistently great and helpful. My issue is strictly with corporates decision-making. Membership rates continue to rise without any upgrades, additions, or improvements to the facility. At the same time, actual member benefits are being stripped away. The aggressive, repetitive sales pitches for memberships every time you walk through the door also creates an uncomfortable guest experience. Its annoying and in my experience - NEVER WORKS. Corporate seems more focused on short-term profits than the people who actually support this gym. A huge part of your customer base is college students and young adults, and constantly raising prices is eventually going to price them out. The staff is great, but the decisions coming from corporate feel completely out of touch. Stop squeezing your bread-and-butter customers for more money, and you might actually see better profit margins by keeping members around.

I really like Central Rock Gym itself, and the staff here are great. My frustration is entirely with the decisions being made by those in charge. Membership prices continue to increase, yet I’m struggling to see what members are actually getting in return. There haven’t been meaningful additions, upgrades, or improvements to the gym that justify continually asking members to pay more. At the same time, the membership benefits seem to have been stripped down to the bare minimum. It feels incredibly out of touch with the actual customer base. A large portion of the members I see are college students and young adults who simply cannot keep absorbing price increase after price increase. At some point, raising prices to increase revenue just starts pricing out the very people who want to support your business. The constant push for memberships is also extremely annoying. Being asked repeatedly about signing up every time I come in does not make me more likely to purchase a membership. Aggressive sales tactics and peer pressure have never convinced me to buy a membership, open a credit card, or purchase anything else — they just make the experience uncomfortable. Again, the gym and the employees are great. The problem is the people making the decisions at the top. Stop squeezing more money out of your existing customers while offering them less. Make the membership worth the price, listen to the people actually using your gyms, and you may find that retaining happy members is better for your bottom line than continually raising prices. Great gym. Great staff. Increasingly out-of-touch management.

Frequently Asked Questions About Central Rock Gym - Atlanta

Do I need a Participation Agreement?

Yes, you need a Participation Agreement! Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport. We require a Participation Agreement from every visitor to the gym in order to stay in operation and for insurance purposes. All customers under the age of 18 MUST have a Participation Agreement signed by a parent or legal guardian. Grandparents, siblings, and teachers do not count.

I have never been climbing before, what are my options?

You have a number of options depending on the Central Rock Gym location you choose to visit. Bouldering Only Facility: You can climb on our bouldering walls. Bouldering does not require ropes, instead it focuses on shorter walls (10 – 14 feet tall) with significantly more padding on the ground. Partners are not required for this style of climbing. Check out our First Time Boulderer video for more information. A short bouldering orientation from a CRG staff member is required for this type of climbing. Rope Facility: You can take an intro belay class to learn all the requirements for using the facility. This class typically takes a little over 1 hour and can be registered online. Once completed you’ll have full access to the gym and have skills to allow you to belay anywhere in the country! Many of our rope gym locations have “Staff Belay” which is a program where our staff provide all the assistance to let you climb on ropes without taking classes. Space is limited to 4 climbers per group so pre-registration is recommended. We will pair multiple groups together until we get to the maximum size of 4 participants.
