Asked to return a defective item without a receipt and they wouldn’t. It’s 2026, academy does returns without receipts. I liked this store

This is all because of bike shop Eric. 41 freaking yrs of experience 🫪 and it shows. He’s amazing at what he does. Then, on top of that, he is just super cool and so helpful and I’m so grateful I got to meet and talk to him today. He also gave me awesome bike trail recommendations 🙌🏼

We’ve always had great experiences in REI. Today we received exceptional service from David when we needed to make a return and exchange for another item similar. We appreciate REIs policy on returns and Davis made our exchange easy and he was friendly. Along with his good customer service we were asked by several other associates as we were picking out other items, if we needed help. We appreciate we can shop at REI all around the country as full time van lifers this is important to us to know we can buy something in Oregon and if we have an issue and are in Georgia it can be handled. Thanks REI Date: 09/21/26 11:39 AM Store #: 164 Register #: 23 Transaction #: 4538 Employee: David Btw we love our new chairs!

Spoke to Anthony at the mechanic station and he earned my business working on my internal cable wiring, just by how he treated my bike from the very second he touched it. I have always taken my bike to one or two specific shops and have been a loyal customer. Even though REI is an outdoor gear and camping store their bike service shouldn't be overlooked even if you have a different brand they do not sell. No elitism just skill and professional help. Diagnosed other concerns instantly that only a seasoned mechanic would know. I learned a few other things speaking to him and I have ridden road bikes for about 22 years and bikes in general for over 3.5 decades. You can always trust a man who has on a good pair of hiking boots! Character counts.
