  I have been disappointed with the service department at Trek Bicycle Lakeland on more than one occasion. Most recently, I brought my wife’s approximately $700 Trek bicycle in for the one-year service included with the purchase. When I dropped it off, I specifically pointed out that the front disc brake pads were dragging. This service is supposed to include brake alignment, cleaning, and minor adjustments. When I picked the bike up, the service technician seemed unsure which bike was hers, provided no explanation of what work had been performed, and came across as rude and unconcerned. After getting the bike home, I discovered that the front brake was still dragging exactly as it had been when I brought it in. Based on the condition of the bike and the unresolved brake issue, I honestly could not tell what, if anything, had been serviced. Unfortunately, this was not my first poor service experience here. About a year ago, when we purchased my wife’s bike, I also brought in my Diamondback mountain bike because it had a leaking tubeless tire valve stem. I paid approximately $190 for their Level 2 service and received the bike back with the same valve stem leak I originally brought it in for. I have since found another local bicycle shop that diagnosed the problem, explained what was wrong, replaced the valve stem, and corrected the issue. Their communication and attention to detail have been significantly better, and I will now be taking my wife’s bike there to have the brake issue corrected as well. After two separate experiences where I received a bicycle back with the original problem still unresolved, I cannot recommend Trek Bicycle Lakeland for bicycle service. When paying for professional service—or receiving a service that is included as part of a bicycle purchase—I expect the reported problems to be addressed and the work performed to be clearly explained.

  Here’s a fair but clear 4-star review: I’ve purchased new bikes from Trek Bicycle Lakeland and have also brought my older bikes in for repairs and service. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly and good to deal with. My experience buying bikes has been very positive. However, I wasn’t as impressed with the repair and servicing side. I felt some of the work could have been done more thoroughly, and as someone who is mechanically experienced, I felt I could have serviced my bikes better myself. Overall, good people and a good place to buy a bike, but I think the service department has some room for improvement.

  While searching for bike for 8 year old grand, I came across this shop. I called my old bike shop in Wesley Chapel (Oliver’s Trek Shop), and they encouraged me to purchase a 24” versus the 20” I was considering. I went into my new local Trek Shop, and found a more appealing color (Sage Blue) which satisfied the only request my grand made - that he get a BLUE bike! Not only was the color amazing, but the bike was $40 less than I anticipated. WIN WIN!!! My grand was treated with kindness and respect. He was taken out back for a test ride and encouraged gently and made to feel comfortable while teaching him about changing the gears and using the handbrakes for the first time ever. He aced his first ride!!! He was so excited that he kept his new helmet on all the way home (45 minutes with stops), so that he could immediately get out and ride when we got the bike home. He insists that the bike goes really fast! He loves it.

  I purchased my Townie Electric bike from Trek Bike Shop in Lakeland FL. The electronics stopped working and there was limited help from a third party parts maker. Chris the owner of Trek Bike shop went the extra mile with a parts bike that they had and got the bike working again. Great job Chris and the employees of Trek Bike Shop. Thank you guys!
