  I’m a local and have played here several times this summer. The cart staff are always friendly and engaging, and Nick and Mark in the pro shop are consistently courteous and professional. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing interaction with Jeff Gunning. During a lesson on Hole 1, two of our tee shots landed near his group. One of the students accidentally picked up one of our balls. We politely asked if she had picked up a white Srixon, but she said no without checking. Instead of simply asking his student to verify the ball, Jeff immediately became confrontational, identified himself as the head pro, and threatened to have us removed from the course. We told him we’d move on, but he continued the interaction by searching for the ball himself. When he found a Callaway, I pointed out that it was actually his student’s ball—the Srixon had been picked up by mistake, just as we’d said. What should have been a simple, respectful conversation turned into an unnecessary confrontation. Mistakenly picking up the wrong ball happens in golf. I expected the head professional to handle the situation with courtesy and professionalism, but unfortunately that wasn’t my experience

  Spanish Wells Country Club is a really enjoyable place to play. The course is in great shape and it’s obvious they put a lot of time and effort into keeping the property looking its best. The course layout gives you a lot of variety, and each hole provides a different challenge that makes you think your way around the course. The entire staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the clubhouse and overall atmosphere is excellent. It’s a course that continues to improve and one that’s definitely worth playing if you’re in the Bonita Springs area.

  Some of the best greens on SW Fla. From bag drop to Crow’s nest for a beers after golf we really enjoyed Spanish Wells. Heard they are redoing nine holes now and another nine next year, hope this place stays semi private so we can still play here.. Bob

  27 hole design. The North 9 is about to open up with a new design and complete refresh. Staff is VERY good. Important to hit good target shots. Course is really fun. All 9 hole sets are challenging. Tee shots are always critical. Clubhouse is pretty. Personally, I think it's the best bang for your buck in Bonita Springs. Partially open to the public which is nice for the vacationers. Driving range is great. Food at clubhouse is awesome. They are putting a lot of effort into making this course really special. One of the best kept secrets, and it's only getting better. You will see lots of wildlife too. Give it a shot. You will have a great time.

  Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club is a great place to play, dine, and enjoy the Southwest Florida lifestyle. The 27-hole layout offers plenty of variety, with enough water, bunkers, and well-placed trouble to keep you humble—especially on the days when your golf ball seems more interested in sightseeing than scoring. The courses are enjoyable and challenging without being punishing, and the club continues to invest in the turf, facilities, and overall experience. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the food and social events make it easy to stay long after the scorecard has been forgotten. A terrific club with good golf, great people, and plenty of reasons to come back—preferably with a few extra golf balls.
